Hi Guys...I had two things to do to my NA this weekend...first was try getting rid of the pinging....moved the cas 2 mil clockwise and magic.....no more ping and goes a lot better.Second was to centre the steering wheel (controls power steering)....I have intermittant soft hard steering.....checked everything, still there....checked with prog DR300ZX and it tells me my wheel is "off centre" and should neutral. After looking at the tech section it shows a screw? at the rear of the horn cover.....all I see is metal,no screw....is there a trick to removing the wheel and when I get there eventually will the wheel slide off or is it pressed on....Thanks for any advice.

single screw at the back (frontside

of car) on the lower spoke.

    Horn fascia then pries off.

Steering wheel is secured by a nut. Loosen the nut several turns BUT LEAVE IT still threaded.

Now grasp both sides of steering wheel and pull from side to side until the wheel lets go and hits the nut. Its at this point that you will apreciate why we say leave the nut screwed on a couple threads... so the steering wheel doesn't crush your chest when it finally lets go off the steering column.

Then remove nut and wheel safely.

    Thanks

Went out had another look with torch no screw...grabbed the horn and gently pulled and it came off....was held by 3 plug in clips so no dramas mine is an NA import may be different.I took your advice and got the wheel off ok and slightly moved it to dead on centre but the prog still said off centre.....possibly tie rod ends....but it tracks true on the road.went for a spin same thing....harder steering....came back, looked on the back of the wheel saw 3 tracks where the 3 connectors run which I assume govern the power steering.....absolutely covered in grease....cleaned it up left minimal lube there...took off again for about 5km turning corners etc,and the power steering is working, never missed a beat!turning the wheel with one finger is a real novelty....see lotsa guys having problems like this.....hope this mite help a few.
