For those with an open and interested mind here's a little information that considers the IGBT as a suitable automotive ignition driver from the idiots at Fairchild.

    http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/fairchild/ISL9V5036P3.pdf

Some more information from some more retards.

Please dont tell me I'm wrong when you didn't have the good nature to read the information I provided. That's wrong and ignorant.

The reason for bringing up the Fairchild IGBT is that it may be more easily available in quantity cheaper to anyone considering trying the above then the Bosch BIP373.

What crawled up your ass and died ??

How do you extrapolate the pile of horse dung you spewed forth in the previous diatribe. to this 7 word comment?

And where do you get off calling into question ANY credentials of anyone here without knowing jack sh!t about who they are and what they have done.

The PARTs are NOT directly interchangable END OF STORY. Why didnt you do something useful, pull a PTU apart. Get a curve tracer, work out the specs of the Transistors and actually propose a direct substitute for Mick.

Instead, you filled a thread full of worthless unusable Shite. UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO REDESIGN A WHOLE NEW PTU USING IGBT'S YOUR POSTS ARE FULLY USELESS.

Talk about being full of yourself.

    I thought that was obvious.

    Ohhh now I'm impressed.

Hey you put forward your credentials. I just didn't think much of them as a basis for your stand that you know everything.

OK this is the bit you need to follow slowly and repeat if necessary, I never said they were a direct replacement for an OEM ECU, initially I was asked identify the semi's in the improvised repair, my best guess was the Bosch BIP373, IGBT was used as a substitute by others for this and WAS designed as a specific ignition driver.

    Is your medication slipping ?

Yeah my thoughts exactly, as usual in this thread you bought NOTHING.

    Have a nice lay down.

If you wish to continue publicly embarrassing yourself, please continue, I dont think anyone else is particularly interested.

This has digressed into a flame war, directly contravening forum guidelines and good taste, I responded to your comments as i feel they are incorrect, i explained my position and offered supporting information, you offered NOTHING but negativity and I'm right and your wrong and I did 4 years at RMIT.

This is not the first time you have behaved like this, if you want to be taken seriously try to get involved in a mature intelligent courteous fashion and you will be much better received.

How much more helpful and informative your post could have been, if only you could have had a civil discussion(and information transfer)between yourself and Tekkie.
Obviously your links DO show some interesting data in regard to the IGBT(and all the foot-stamping and name calling could have been avoided).

I think I have just lost my hard won title to a new contender, wear it with pride.:zlove:

    Here's the almost funny bit.

I never intended to repace the transistors in that PTU so I don't care what type they are.
It would have been interesting to draw a circuit diagram if only to show others how basic an ignition module can be but it's no biggie.

The thing actually works. My occasional rough idle at temp. could be a number of things. The code 21 on cold start ups might just be the connectors or wiring.
Or even my remanufactured ECU !

If I can prove that the PTU is the culprit then I'll just replace it with a series 2.
Or wait for Andymac's report on the Microtech X6.

It pains me to see Tek & Bris at loggerheads with each other.
They are 2 of my favourite members and both of them are very knowledgable plus they're terrific guys as well.

I couldn't agree more with your last comment(it seems as though they are both feeling a little "precious" ATM, and waiting to be hurt)kiss and make up guys, you are BOTH right.:zlove::zlove::zlove:
