As some of you guys know, I have pulled my car off the road because the paint is so embarassing with the clear coat peeling off in postage stamp size flakes. My panel beater friend said they don't come with clear coat so mine has had a rub back and clear coat put on to look good a long time ago. Anyway in the pics you can see where it's dull and I've just flaked the clear coat off with a razor blade and the rest will be sanded off. I bare metalled the bonnet yesterday and it's getting primed today. When I've prepped it I am getting it 2 packed in a booth. Check out my new seats I love them!!! They're not installed yet just sitting there butI had to show them off. Cheers Rich.
Rich has 19" rims to replace the 18" rims pictured... They are in the For Sale section. I agree with you aK, they are good looking rims.
proof I posted the pics just to prove to you guys that I actually have a car as no one has ever seen it.HAHA
I'm pretty sure "Super Black" KH3 is clear over base..>> I remember when I bought all the paint supplies for painting my front bar the paint shop said "yep it's clear over base" Cheers Andrew
The company I work for has 5 paintshops on site ... all doing different OEM painted plastic products for Toyota, Ford, Holden & Mitsubishi. Items such as rocker skirts, spoilers, grilles, rear garnishes, door cladding, etc. ALL parts painted in any body colour are painted in basecoat + clear. I don't know whether the OEMS use clearcoat on metal body panels, or what practices were used back in the early 90's.
Re: I like the look of those seats Yeah I'm loving the seats too! Clear coat was developed for metallics and was never meant for straight colours according to my very experienced panel beater friend so if you have a clear coat on your straight colour then you had the same "customising" that I've had. I'm going to paint it the same colour but in 2 pack so it will be super hard and scratch resistant, it is also getting a thorough prep job supervised by my friend so the finish is outstanding (I hope). Thanks for the compliments anyway. Cheers Rich.
all stock colours had clear coat Nissan actually made a big thing about the treatment. Theu even had a special name for it. I remember reading a Japanese web site that had a list of what changed on the Z32 over its model life. They had a description of the paint build up on the car. which did actually change over the years. But ALL had clear coat
