Just wondering for things to watch out for. How do I fill the oil pump up with oil before the sump is on? Should I run this stuff? http://www.penrit***l.com.au/products.php?id_categ=14&id_products=323 Anything I should watch out for?
I cranked my motor over without spark plugs till pressure guage moved (aftermarket external) and filled filter with oil first. My motor is still going hard with no damage. People may do it differently
basically i'm looking for things i should remember doing, things i should clean extra that kind of thing. i'm terms of oil pump, a little metal cap valve thing fell out of it, I'm not too sure which way it goes back in.
Easiest way to ensure no oil loss and maintaining instant pressure is fill up Oil filter before refitting and hay pesto you are primed pretty much immediately. As shineyzx recommends. If the cap is missing from the upper R side of the oil pump about the diameter of a 10 cent piece that is a blanking plus and you need that big time. Buy a new oil pump and be safe in the knowledge that it will be in good condition. Especially as you are rebuilding the motor. After all it is the lifeblood of the motor.
You havent said what you have done to the engine ie, rebore new pistons/rings, crank reground, heads worked. All of these things will entail detailed cleaning prior to reassembly and as D'arcy says "A new oil pump is very small extra price to pay" against having problems later and in worse case having to remove engine again and rebuild,
rebore, new pistons and rings, crank was linished big ends and mains and decked the top. is there any place in australia that has a good price on the oil pump? or is CZP my only option?
