O.K before i start i did search and in the tech article i couldnt really tell what they were talkin bout. I just installed my new boost gauge the other day as i only have the NA dash not the turbo one and i saw i was only runnin 0.4bar (6psi) which means i am runnin on safety boost so my question is how can i get it off safety boost and could some one make me a list of all the things that could make it run safety boost just so i have like a checklist to go and check with...
Well first of all get datascan plugged into your car and check for error codes etc Do a boost leak test and see if you have any leaks in your system... that should help in tracking down why you are only running 6psi..
Ensure your safety boost solonoids are plugged in. If they're disconnected then you'll be running 6/7psi whether the ECU puts you into safety mode or not.
Thats true too... I dont have mine plugged in as i got an MBC but yeah got to make sure everything else is running well and no leaks in the system...
if i get a manual boost controller like the 'Turbosmart Tee Boost Controller' will that cure the problem...
Get one of the guys that is in your area to give you a hand doing a boost leak test... If you got leaks in the system it will put you in safety boost mode so your psi level will drop... Also good to have datascan put on the car to check for error codes etc as well... You can installed an MBC or EBC if you like to up the boost but no use doing it till your find out what is making your car run in safety boost...
