wishbone as in subframe? Do you know if it's the actual subframe that mucked or just one of the control arms?

I had my whole rear supsension replaced for 800 parts 600 labour.

First thing to do is get it to a good suspension shop and have the whole rear end checked out before replacing anything. Although you may be able to see the arms have been damaged, what may not be visible is damage to the hubs and axles. And if you hit it hard enough the subframe and its mounting studs could be damaged too

the only "visible damage" is a bent control arm thats caused the wheel to camber inwards.

as said, get a suspension place to check out the subframe. It may just be the bent control arm, they're the first to go (which is a good thing really). Which control arm is bent? If it turns out to be just one of the control arms i still have all one side if you need them (also didn't you lower the rear of your car? Do you have anything adjustable or just screwing through the tyres?)

nope nothing adjustable, so i figure its a good time to sort out that if i've gotta sort this out..

And by control arms, we're talking about the part attatched to the wheel itself correct? If so its just the rear one on the left hand side.

that would be awesome zed mate... cant beleive it happend still i've never had an issue with corners and i'm still coming to terms with the fact i ****ed it up big time...

it's ok, you got off pretty lightly. One of my friends slammed his commodore into a tree sideways yesterday morning, completely stuffed it. But anyway. Put a picture up for us to see, though i'd strongly recommend getting a suspension place to check. Bone up on suspension lingo first so they don't think you're an idiot and say 'ohhh looks like the car is bent which means you'll need a new flux capacitor, that'll be 50 billion dollars thanks', and use airstyles quote as reference if it comes to replacing the subframe entirely

someone able to pm me their phone number to send them a pic of the damage, my other phone i used is broken and i dont have a cable for this phone :(

But its true, i got off lightly. Would be nice if it didnt happen all together though. And i'll use the quote if it comes to it, hopefully it doesnt.

    WhiteNight Littering and...

I had a bent wheel and a damaged subframe.

    The Z was a writeoff.

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

hey champ i did the exact same thing about 2 months ago.

came into a corner sideways and met the councils smart idea of bluestone or what ever they are gutters.

bent my rear wheel under the car snapping my wishbone and strut at the joints on the bottom.

however i got onto Z worxs or something in mornington i think and he sold me a as new rear from a z32 for $400 including him removing it off another zed and it came with the CVs and new brake disk.

im only what 19 now and knew fairly little about the zed but me and dad decided to give it a shot of fitting ourselves and its surprisingly easy to do. theres 4 main bolts which the whole rear sits on.. took 2 days of work to do, hardest bit being getting the car high enough in a garage to get it off but we did and my zed is 100% back to normal at the rear. nows the fun part of getting it painted in the once off paint again.. lols

if u want i can send you some pictures of the work we did on it so u can see for yourself but the zed is definitely not a write off if u have the time n patience to find the parts.

    kindest regards.

What I didn't see was the wheel brg was rooted, shock was bent and the wheel cracked.

    Check it out properly

Again, mine doesnt look that bad... but yeah looks can be deceiveing.

How much did it cost you to fix?

Follow my "airstyles bent wheel hub" thread, there are a few things members suggested that you can try to assess the damage. Other than that go have it checked out at a suspension place (ie Pedders), shouldn't cost more than $50-100 (or free if you get a nice mech).

I did it all myself and changed the whole rear subframe, then I rebushed the whole thing and put new hicas balljoints in as well. Then I treated the underside of the car with some stone chip and new paint

So the cost mounted up and up.

Magnificent work though! Does that stone chip paint require much preparation?

    Cheers

    Scott,

Go and see Chris at Inline Suspension and Steering in Quenbeyan (Yass road)
His a suspension guru and all the guys that work there own and race Porsche 911's.

His worked on my zed many times and he looks after your car too and i can't speak highly enough of him.
(if you don't believe me, go see how many ferraris and Porsches he has that always come back to him- I saw 2 new r35's there last time i drove past:eek:)

There are a few suspension places to stay away from, so PM me if you want to know who they are.
