I'm seriously considering removing the rear windscreen wiper and motor. Is there a writeup somewhere on this? I've tried doing a search and couldn't find anything useful.

In most States that will be enough to get a yellow sticker, or cancel your rego.
Cars with a relatively flat angled rear window, require a windscreen wiper because rain water will tend to remain laying on the glass and seriously impede your rear vision(in a Z32 this is already bad due to the large blindspot caused by the hatch sides).

It's pretty self explanitory on how to do it mate... just pop the hatch, remove the trim, remove the weight, motor and wipe.... done!

now all you have to do it get the hole welded up then bog, sand & paint :D

OK. It's probably not worth it then. Thanks.

saw a zed in perth recently with this done. don't know if its worth of a yellow sticker or not (i'd say it is), but it looked really good. just keeps the car looking smooth, sleek and simple.

Brad (DUB) had his front wipers off for touch up painting, and i can't believe the difference it makes. the front one's are more essential though :)
    cheers

Yeah, it frustrates me to know it'll look better and reduce weight too, but It'd be a real bitch having to reinstall it if yellow stickered.

So how do you get the wiper arm off the motor? After all, the boot itself is in between. Do you have to totally dismantle the wiper motor or something? I wouldn't want to have to destroy the wiper motor in the process.

You just flip up the little nut cover on the wiper arm, undo the nut, then pull the wiper off... Not too tricky :)

well, i had my rear wiper removed and yesterday was the first time it rained since it had been done, and honestly it wasn't too bad at all, i thought it would be a lot worse than it was! but when you accelerate, the water just runs off in little streams and you can see just fine. even when i did have a wiper i hardly ever used it in the rain anyway....

also, unless you are sitting next to another Zed, are the police really going to notice that you should have a wiper?? maybe, maybe not...

yeh i agree with haylz. i hardly ever use mine when it rains etc., only time i really use it is when my back window gets dusty and i want to clean it.

i reckon the chance of a cop noticing is pretty slim, but for the effort required with bogging and sanding etc., it'd really suck to get a yellow sticker and have to put it back on.

Mine doesn't even work, but it has never been an issue.

If you are really concerned about it, use rainx. It will sheet right off.

Oh OK. That sounds easy enough. I might try removing everything and see how I like it. I suppose it would be safe to tape over the hole left behind in the meantime.
