Hi every1 names Michael, new here.

I just got my first car yesterday 91' Z32 NA
Ive spent most of the day cleaning the car as it was extremely dirty inside and out (but in relatively good condition). Im finally done now and ive moved onto the biggest problem at hand the rear spoiler. Currently it is the stock spoiler but it is in veryyy bad condition; small rip in the center and pelling paint all over. Im considering my options and ive narrowed it down to:

    1. Remove spoiler and use OEM Rear Infill Panel, With Brake Light

    2. Replace with another stocker

So far i reallyyy prefer the smooth look without a spoiler, but before i start the work i would just like abit of extra info from someone who has done either of these options. A couple of questions are:

    - Does the OEM Rear Infill Panel, With Brake Light entirely cover the hole left by the third brake light and can it be attached without/ with minimal, custom work to the boot?

    - How much work is needed for each option?

    - How much am i looking at for each option?

theres some bolt holes left in the top of the deck lid which need welding up and smoothing off.. usually requires whole deack to be repainted.. given the paint will be shot sometimes a bit of rust aswell under the OEM spoiler its your best option to have the whole deck resprayed after welding..

second option would be simpler.. but not as nice in my opinion.. gonzo is currently making OEM replacement spoilers in fibreglass (look in for sale section)
or find a stocky.. i have one.. but shipping would kill ya and there should be enough kicking about. and that way you will only need the spoiler painted (unless your lucky and find one the right colour in good nick (unlikely)

Welcome and congrats on your Z...

I am in the same boat replacing the stock rear wing...
I have already purchased the oem rear brake light/filler..
I will be getting a f40 wing soon..

You have a couple of options..
*going brazillian and getting a rear brake light or filler from gonzo
    *adding a a/m wing
    or
*another stock rear wing as minivan said or a fiberglass one from gonzo

do a seach and you will find a tech article on removing the spoiler to show whats involved

a rear brake light will set you back approx $250

Removing spoiler fitting OEM infill panel

Hi I did this to my car about a year ago. As pointed out by others when you take off the spoiler there will be holes to fill. The guy who did mine said that you have to have special equipment to electrically weld up the holes to prevent frying the sensors throughout the car. He did not have this so took the hatch off the car to do it properly. Some idiot in the past had already repainted my hatch without removing the spoiler so when the spoiler came off there was a step in the paint. the whole hatch had to be stripped to bare metal and repainted. A couple of new square holes were required for the clips of the new oem infil panel. Careful measurement was required but no big deal. The oem panel has its own brake light built in, it fits perfectly into the hole in the hatch and the existing plugs are used. Mine cost about $350. It is very fragile. When mine was fitted the rubber seal did not fit in properly and the guy who fitted it broke it trying to remove it again. He replaced it at no cost me.
I personally like the brazillian look, it is sleek and clean. I am convinced that the car must have been originally designed this way and the spoiler was added as an afterthought.
Best of luck with your car and i hope your mechanical repairs are not too extensive.
