Hey folks.... has anyone here had to get the rear spoiler on your Z resprayed? My paint's fine all over the car except for the damn spoiler. I've sorted out a cheap spoiler respray but need to remove it first.... How do I get it off without breaking anything?? Does anyone know what its secured to the car with? Help please!! Thanks

Having removed the original rear spoiler... i can't see how you can

without damage ? maybe if you spend some serious time undoing the screws and glue and what not ??? but if it was me, i'd just put triple covers over everything and respray on car, cause telling you now, between putting mountains covering over the car not to spray it, or trying to remove the spoiler without damage, its like someone giving you $150,000 cash or a loto ticket and saying pick ??? But that's only my opinion, some one smarter might have a good technique

    Used search...

I seem to be the only one who wants to get the original spoiler back on the car after its pulled off... Just wondering if anyone else has done the same. I haven't even thought about puting it back on afterwards!

    If spoiler not bubbled/rusted, it's pretty easy to r & r

Almost impossible to remove without damage

and you'll then have to respray the hatch afterwards:(

Suggest following Aadoor's advice. Either that or go Brazilian.

Far easier to respray in place if its still in good condition apart from paint.

I destroyed my old one getting it off - but it was rusted out and needed replacing.

If you really want to persevere and get it off then piano wire or metal guitar string are probably best for cutting thru the sikaflex, double sided tape and even the clips.

Re : rear spoiler - I asked this question a while back

and got two replies. One was to go to the on-line manual and go to Body then to page 30. The other which is an article with pictures you will find if you go to Search and enter "Search is your friend" and author "Zeppelin" (Pete). This was back on the 15 Nov 2004 at 20:13. This is a good article with a couple of good tips.
