rear perspex strip-high mount without brake light?

Just removed my rear spoiler & trying to source the perspex strip.
$250USD plus shipping & likely to be damaged in transit.
55GBP plus shipping for strip without brake light ($97AUD) is a good price; with brake light is another 70GBP.

So is there an Oz supplier for the strip without the brake light?
Cause there seems to be a big difference in price, & the UK mob say both strips are OEM, however I can only find the part number for the strip with the brake light.

Go to a Nissan dealer they can get you one.

What is the Perspex strip you’re referring to? Is it an oem part? Do you have a link to it?

Rob (as in post above mine) or your local Nissan dealer are your best bet for the third brake light strip.

To the best of my knowledge there isn’t an oem part that’s a blank strip. It may be that it is just the lens they are selling, in which case you would need to already have a brake light and harness etc to complete the assembly.

For what it’s worth to you a high mount third brake light is a requirement for road worthiness, especially on a low car.

If you decide to purchase a complete assembly I have in stock at http://www.rgsperformance.com/product/oem-nissan-third-brake-light-panelinfill-panel/

Having two brake lights on a low car might be enough, BUT the law is pretty standard across the country nowadays, it is mandatory to have THREE Brake lights. So best stick with the law or pay the fines.

Thanks for the link Rob. UK mob say it's OEM & is not just the lens.
I had no luck finding the part number though.
I'm all for laws for safety, but most are just rules to keep people in jobs. Rear wiper delete is also illegal.
Wouldn't be the only illegal item on my Z.

What's the problem with having the third brake light?

You normally find vehicles in the UK & Europe have additional & brighter lights on the rear due to the piss poor weather conditions, like the rear bar on an Australian version of the Z32.

I ran a limited search through Euro Nissan FAST & the third brake light is the same as fitted to the early JDM Z32's with the low type of spoiler, which appears to have been fitted up to 01/1994.
There are different part numbers for this light, however they appear to be related to the colour of the paint on the vehicle.

The halo type of spoiler first appeared on JDM & US spec Z's in 09/1993.

If you can obtain a post 01/1994 Euro Z32 VIN it may reveal something.

I don't really have a problem with the 3rd light; it was only the difference in price, like $140AUD more!

The local Nissan dealer wasn't much help. I told them the part number, but they wanted my VIN. Which isn't any help cause as East Coast stated, I need a post 01/1994 VIN.

I'll most likely just buy the part from Rob, but I was worried as couriers don't deliver to my address & everything ends up at the local P.O.
Talking to Post Master I was informed their transport/sorting bins are 1 metre cubes, & anything over will be bent.

As time goes by you'll learn $140.00 is a drop in the bucket when fooling around with Z cars.
If you pay for the item at the time of ordering, the Nissan Spare Parts salesman will supply whatever you may decide to order.
You just need to make sure you have the right part number for the item you want.
If you don't, then you'll be stuck with something you can't use.

The part number above is for a complete third brak light assembly. In all honesty I do not think that an OEM part exists that is simply a perspex infill; I'm almost certain that the part they are selling in the UK is the lense portion of the TBL assembly. e

If you decide to purchase I have stock, the delivered price is less than list price from your dealer, and it will be delivered to you insured against breakage etc. The courier will knock on your door and if you're not home it will be retained at their facility pending your further instruction.

Take it with a grain of salt, obviously the best outcome for ME is that you click the link and buy a brake light, but yeah in fifteen years of ownership and being fairly actively involved with sourcing and supplying parts I have never come across the part you're looking for and it doesn't exist in the FAST databases that I have access to.

What like pal, hope my first post is useful - as far as I'm aware the part number you're looking for is this: 26590-49P00
I had it written down from years ago from the last one I bought from the Nissan dealer so I hope the numbers still correct. It's as he says, a black infill strip but instead of a brake light+window there's just a black recess in it's place. Half the price and fits the same. It was provided on some european-market Z32's. Hope that helps :)

As I said from the outset that is an OEM Third Brake Light “lens”. The recess you’re referring to is where the lamp would be fit if you purchased a TBL “assembly”. FAST confirms this.

It's not, I've had two mate, unless im misunderstanding you. That whole black plastic infil with clips on the back is the part number I can guarantee it, there is no clear area in it for a brake light it just has the 'shape' of the light recessed a little bit. FAST has this particular part listed incorrectly and I'm not sure why, I've noticed it.

Here's the part as it comes out the box:

Thanks for the part number, that makes it a lot easier to find.
Here in Australia we have Auspec & JDM Z32's.
We also source parts from the US & Japan.

Part Number 26590-49P00 does not appear in any of the Nissan FAST Part Listings for any of those vehicles.

Nor does it appear in the parts list for Euro Right Hand Drive models.

However, it is listed in Nissan FAST in the Euro Left Hand Drive section.
Fitted on vehicles built between 01/1994 & 12/1994.

I don't pal im sorry, it looks identical to the rear-assembly WITH the brake light, in regards to the fittings/clips and rubber seal, the only difference is it's plain black the whole way across and doesn't have any fitment for a third brake light :)

I've had a few of each, out of the two though the brake-light version looks better so is worth the extra money in my eyes.

Interesting -this diagram shows the part you have listed as being the p/n for the whole assembly and a different number for lens only.

Perhaps there are regional variations -if I get a chance over the weekend I’ll see what EUR fast lists.

The lens only option is available via AUS but it’s not something I’ve ever gotten in stock as it was more expensive than buying a complete assy, not to mention being an invitation to be rear ended by a truck or 4WD.
