    Mine is leaking.

Can you change it by removing the gearbox, clutch and flywheel, or does the engine have to come out so you can remove the crank (like a holden)??

    Thoughts/ideas/opinions?

gear box has to come out..

whats the condition of ur clutch.. might b worth changing it while its out also..

also u have 2 other seals u can change while the gear box is out... might as well do them as well while the gear box is out or if they do decide to leak its gearbox out again and more $$

They were having a discussion about this on the US forums, they said the PCV hoses might contribute to a rear main seal leak and so might need checking or replacing if the oils get clogged.

What are the other two seals? front and rear gearbox seals or the engine seal retainer gaskets?

Another leak that appares like a rear main is the seal carrier to sump area, i would reseal this area while doing the seal.
