Rear hatch rattles getting worse - driving me insane

Does anyone else get the dreaded rear hatch rattles? I have had them bad lately... especially since my new exhasut system went in. I think the awesome, deep sound of the magnaflows is causing more vibrations than my old set-up. I have tried adjusting the bolts on the latch, but it doesn't seem to make any difference... :( Also I think it might have gotten worse since I removed that weight under the hatch trim. Would this be a factor? The rattles mainly occur when accelerating past 3,000rpm

Has anyone had any luck fixing this problem, its really annoying me

Find someone game enough to sit in the hatch and go drive over some bumps or at the rpm it happens, get them to touch everything until the rattle stops then fix it! Solved! lol

u dont mean the whole hatch do you?? if u do just get some foam or soft rubber or something u can put where its needed so when its shut its "jammed" in place

If the whole hatch is moving around lower the hatch lock so when it is closed the hatch wont move around as much...hatch lol

It's more likely to be an interior panel or something. Do you guys have a space saver wheel back there? That could be moving around too, there's a few things it could be but you really need someone in there to find it properly.

Push up against the hatch and it stops? There you go!

If you have the Brazilian kit thing done and you got that plastic infill panel, check the nuts on that haven't come loose. Mine did and it was such a PAIN IN THE ASS every time I hit a bump.

lol this is exactly what i had to do.... i had this stupid rattle for a while and i could never figure it out. jumpt in the boot and got someone to drive lol... ended up being a cover on my amp rattling, coz i hadnt put a screw in the cover... grrr...

ed is on the ball. this would be the first thing id try if the boot itself was rattling. should be like 3 bolts holding the latch, undo and move down and do them up again. you might have to slam the boot for it to shut as the latch is lower, but just keep working out a height that it stops the rattle. if thats what is causing it ;)

I have a rattle in my hatch which I reckon is due to the little plastic clips that used to hold the spoiler on. A few broke during the great fence incident of '06. I'm going to remove it one day and shake it vigorously and see what comes out.

I'm also hoping for gold :p

This is what my problem was. Remove the centre rear trim and loosen the three bolts that hold the latch loop and move it down about 10mm then tighten back up and try the hatch to make sure it shuts OK then test drive.

Put up with this for over 2 years till I got fed up and searched for it.
