www.elec2go.com has alot of different EL products and invertors, they are based in sydney, I have had good dealings with them recently.

post dig again! my panel has stopped glowing...

    Hi all,
I am wondering if there is a fix/solution for my factory glow panel which has recently stopped working?

I do not get the high pitched buzzing sound from the inverter, but did get the sound if i unplugged it from the panel. From reading this thread, my inverter should buzz if the panel light tape is blown, which it isn't buzzing. So is it possible the tape is not blown and there is another reason for the malfunction?

As a side note... not sure if it is actually related, but i think that since the panel has stopped glowing i get interferance through my FM radio whenever the headlights are turned on....

Sounds to me like possibly maybe the inverter??

On a side note I've been trying to source a replacement inverter with no luck for my genuine panel as I bought it without one and have been curious as to whether it works or not ever since.

don't think the inverter would buzz if it wasn't working would it?

i cant be bothered reading this thread but ill comment anyway. It totally depends on the brand of inverter. Some buzz that high pitch sound and are just crap. others don't make a sound. If you need one let me know, ill get you one in our group buy. it will be $25 (brand new) and yes it is silent :)

Ohh just read ur 1st post, yeah take ur El panel out and all good :)

Hmmm think you miss understood... the inverter doesn't buzz unless i unplug it from the EL tape, which is apparently due to lack of load. some people hear the buzz when the panel stops working however my panel does not glow anymore but there is no buzz unless unplugged.

it says above the inverter will buzz if it is still connected to a power supply, but not under load. try disconnecting it completely, but it doesn't sound like the problems with the inverter anyway

So, it turns out that I have one of these.. but the glow light hasn't been working.

I've always wondered what that buzzing noise in the back was..

Anyone know how to fix them? :p

Was actually going to send this off to SPOOLE300ZX to get him to recolour the 300zx in red (ala 2000 spec). Couldn't find a box big enough then noticed the funny connector and then this thread. :p
