    hi all
I havent had the car long and trying to work out the demister on the rear screen, I do know that the wire is carrying 12v,the switch is ok, the side earth is fine, but nothing going through the wires, I think the windows tint is stopping it from working I peeled back a tiny bit and i get voltage up to the tint then it stops, am I on the right track do I need to remove the tint to make it work? do the elements work through the tint?
    Regards Linton

My rear screen is tinted and the demister works fine. Not sure if different types of tint could interfere though.

The demister is just a large printed resistive track that produces heat when voltage is applied.

If the track is broken somewhere no voltage flows and no heat is produced.

If you look closely you will find break/s probably where it has been scuffed when the hatch has been closed on something loaded in the back.

Using a multimeter to test for an open circuit will confirm there is a break.

It can be repaired using stuff like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Rear-Window-Demister-Repair-Kit-Brand-New-/400379264670

Permatex is a good brand and available in Australia, SuperCheap etc.
