Ever find your seat belt just does not retract the way it should? What happens is over time the spring moves/loosens and when the belt it is all the way wound up. the spring is not also wound all the way up. So the belt needs to installed to match the belt at full tension. Here is a quick guide to show how to get it back to how it should be. First off, Remove all parts of the belt from your car. Pull the belt all the way out, while keeping the mechanism up right, as the ball needs to be in its little hole to allow the belt to be extended out. once the belt is out, use a small flat head screw driver to lift the little plastic bit which locks in the belt (get the screw driver under the edge of the belt dont pry at the plastic tab), once you have it out, keep tension on the mechanism, because if you let go, you have to wind it back up without the belt to help you =] take note of how it came out, as it will go back in the exact same way. once the belt is removed, you can keep tension on the mechanism using a screw driver. Use this time to wash your belt. I just done mine in a bucket with some soapy water, brings them up a treat. now you need to wind the mechanism up(just the same way as if you were still pulling out more belt rolled onto the mechanism) Once done the spring will look nice and tight like this Your belt is now clean, so you can feed it through, and re install the clip Slide the belt back through mechanism, and install through the tab like so then fold it over as it was initially, it will still have the crease marks as you can see in the previous pic. then push the tab back into its slot, it will click and lock into position. Make sure it is in properly, then you can retract it and install. And your belt will now work like new again
AWESOME NEMZ Little while ago I asked the same question and all the experts said no - you cant adjust them only put the teflon tab in the buckle???? Well done!
Top work, thanks for sharing! I discovered a while back that the Aus-Spec seatbelt's mounting hardware is slightly different to those of the complied seatbelts fitted to 4 seater imports. I'm guessing that Kiplan does make a suitable replacement seatbelt for the aus spec Z32 - does anyone happen to know what the part number is so they can be ordered through Repco? Thanks
