Evil Twin Time to 'Suit Up'!

Finally after lurking around here for about 9+ years. I got my safety cert this morning (RWC) without any dramas and went into QLD Transport to register the zed after 18 months of building it up from 2x other donor cars and hoarding parts from the ZRFS.

Initially I was told the engine number doesnt match my car - I said well derr, I already told you that (I now have Martins engine). The number was checked by the roadworth guy - so the correct number was on that RWC form. I explained I owned the donor zed as well and could give her the VIN, rego and last owners name if that helped double check the engine number. No - she wanted to see the car.

So then I had to get CTP insurance (of course it was pooring with rain!) - pick up the zed - no biggie I was glad to drive it finally!! (altough I have polished it about 10 time and swore I would never drive it in the rain) - quick stop at servo to check tyres and took the back roads so I could bed in the brakes and give the girl a bit of a quick shake down.

So she goes outside to look at the zed - hands me the torch and asks me to read out the engine number (a very clear photo on my laptop won't suffice - and at this point i wish I had memorised it) - I couldnt see the bloody thing either - and the RWC guy had to use a remote camera FFS.

We go back inside and she turns around and says its the VIN thats wrong now - she even reads out the original rego number for my zed (which correlates with my logbook and REVS check - from time of purchase) but says these are both now linked to a FORD FALCON!

At this point I was about to crack it - I explained she has seen the PLATE ON THE CAR - I HAVE THE PREMIUM REVS CHECK (which indicates the cars history etc) and she has the ORIGINAL REGO NUMBER (which also correlates with my REVS check!) - her agument being my zed has never been registered in Australia now!

They now have to see if they have copies of the orginal import papers in their achives - oh but I have been assured it has a PRIORITY put on the request - yay!

IF they can't find them it gets really messy - the original compliane company doesnt exist anymore for a start!

Its clearly their (by theirs I mean HER) cock up - but I have to jump through all the hoops to fix it! - WTF!

She even said someone has put the Ford VIN in their system incorrectly FFS! The revs check and previous rego number all match - so FFS REGISTER THE FRIGGIN THING ALREADY YOU DUMB MOLE! [TIS][TIS][TIS]

Dude, every time I have to do something at Service Tas I have to explain to them what their job is. It's literally unbelievable how bad and clueless some of them are!!!

Hope you don't experience any more hold ups :zlove:

    Welll good news - NOT!

The lady I was dealing with yesterday wasnt in today - awesome! So instead I spent 2.5 hours in QT today for them to finally tell me it might be upto a week before they can do anything!

To their credit though, I had 3 different people running around - the supervisor made at least half a dozen calls trying to resolve it and I don't think they could do anymore to help me. They were all curteous and professional. Several times they throught they has it resolved and I even got my wallet out to pay twice, but enevitably it wasnt to be.

Utiimately its the national body (I forget the acronym) that hold the VIN numbers is now a fault. When they try and process the registration at QT - the VIN keeps coming back as invalid.

They now have to send away for the VIN to be verified and re-entered of somthing like that, regardless of the fact they can see it WAS registered in QLD for about 8 years (same owner I might add).

Oh well - been waiting about 10 years - whats another week! :p:mad::rofl:

At least they are trying now. I have no problem with having to wait as long as they actually tried and failed as opposed to just not bothering or ****ing me around.

Thats why I have calmed down a bit since then and acknowledge their work today! First time for everything.

I did have a win this afternoon with a warranty claim on a iPhone I blew up when I bashed the lighted plug in with a closed fist. almost 2 years old - and they replaced it - no questions asked! THATS good customer service right there - and I told the girl that to her face! :D

Well its running - I start it almost weekly and run it up for about 10-15 minutes but I have only driven it once. - and only gave it one real squirt on the way home on low boost as I went up an on ramp and on the highway - she flies! But there is still the same hesitation when going on and coming off idle same as what Martin had ( my intial plan is to swap out the coilpacks - try my other S2 PTU and put my twin intake setup on to it and then see if there is any differance). Theres also a small oil leak on the passenger side somewhere (enough to smell smoke - but not dropping oil on the ground). Neither issue has been looked into yet. I figured I would get a few k's on it and burn off some cobwebs before investigating any further. As well as doing a leakdown and consult on it.

In saying that I going to take it to QT now and try and get it registered one last time before the long weekend - wish me luck.

WELL - Queensland Transport ordeal has been resolved!

Then I had to resolve a broken brake line - after snapping one during a pad chanage (don't ask) - a quick trip to the mad scientist (DRZ400) and I was mobile by about 4pm this afternoon (thanks again Eric).

Now after about 10 years and 3500+ sleeps I am finally on the road!! :zlove::zlove::zlove:
