and if your cobra is detectable by the radar detector detectors, will you still have such a big smile? it's better to be caught 30 over than to get caught with your cobra, think about that for a minute...

All US made and designed radar detectors can be,

detected by the Australian police. Thats ALL of them.!

can you please explain why the australian police can detect something that the USA police can't? is it a secret that our guys keep from their guys?

if the STi doesn't emit a detectable level of radiation, then it can't be detected...

they have put the RDD right up againist the STi RD and the various models of RDD didn't detect it

No its in their legislation that requires all new designs,

to be presented to the government before manufacturing so they can design and build something to counter it. The reason why our police can detect them is the same reason why Americans still dont use digital telephones and still use traceable analogue cell phones and thats because its old technology which is the way they like it.!

Are these detectors something that all police are always looking for or more likely to be something they'd find accidentally if at all...? Just trying to weigh up risks/benifits

i would suspect that the RDD's that our guys buy, are made by american companies and are the same RDD's used in the USA

if RDD's in USA can't detect the STi, then i doubt that the RDD's in Aus can detect it...

there's a whole forum on radar detectors, and the chaps over there claim that the STi can't be detected...

High end Australian made and designed detectors,

are far superior technology to US ones, and all but a few are detectable by police. Only a few top end aussie made detectors are really undetectable and those that arent are alerting the police via known error codes for each brand. It is also worth noting 2 things, one that to be completely undetectable you need both radar and laser detectors and two, remember that there are some very big fines and confiscation laws if caught using them.

Don't waste your money on radar detectors they are illegal and cops can detect them on their radar guns and will pull you over as they would know that you have one. Don't believe anyway trying to sell you something that says it can by pass cop radars thats rubbish.

The road angel is not a detector but a GPS finder it will not detect a radar gun. The road angel is the one to purchase an have regular updates on locations by subscription. I have a uniden GPS tracker and it does the job and is totally legal

how does a gps know the radar locations?

It only gives the GPS location and warning,

of "fixed" cameras ,ie, red light cameras etc,

    GPS

They only pick up fixed radar cameras/Guns, not mobile ones.

well that's pretty useless isn't it?

if you can't learn for yourself where fixed cameras are, then avoiding them doesn't seem important to you

for someone that doesn't understand the history of the radar detector VERSUS the radar detector detector battle, here is a summary quote:

Being "Undetectable" (to specific brands of Radar Detector Detector) is a feature that has been offered by most Radar Detector manufacturers. But was it true in all cases? This has long been one of the great "traps" for a potential Radar Detector buyer. It remains so today.

Until recently, one RDD (the Australian made "SMS" Spectre / Stalcar) had been able to detect all dash/visor mount type Radar Detectors at significant distances. When a Radar Detector manufacturer introduced a design with a slightly different LO (tuning frequency), Stealth Micro Systems soon expanded their detection pattern to detect the new model.

So called "stealth" solutions from mass-market brands did not eliminate "leakage" at all frequencies. A better, permanent solution was required. This site (and only this site) predicted the emergence of advanced technology models that do not radiate detectable emissions ? "at any frequency".

Other Oz Radar sites criticized our statements or were silent about the "stealth solution" issue.

As of January 2006, the new Beltronics STi with "TotalShield" Technology has rendered every RDD obsolete. That includes Spectre-3 and Stalcar-3 from Stealth Micro Systems. Will there be Mark 4 RDD versions? Hard to see how and why. What's the point? If a Radar Detector Detector cannot ever detect just one model of Radar Detector, surely the RDD device is obsolete?

    bel

id say go with the BEL PRO RX65 ,
its atleast still legal here for WA fellas, (untill it gets changed)

What about the New Bel XR, detects the same bands as the 65 and is undetactable..

    "
The BEL XR has been eagerly anticipated for years. The first detector with no detectable emissions, is the newest unit to our line-up. It is by far the most advanced radar, laser and safety detector ever designed by Beltronics. After years of research and millions spent on development, the BEL XR can now be crowned the only radar detector which is completely undetectable to radar-detector-detectors"

the STi in USA is called XR in australia, same RD

check this out, hide ur plate:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS1eW3QlaQM&eurl=

i sold my RX65 earlier this yr to my best mate, he had just bought a subaru wrx STi and needed it more than i did
also, knowing that they will become illegal and since its detectable, almost worthless, i sold it to him (whilst telling him)
i wanted the STi and that's the only detector i would get, unless there is another undetectable one

    ultimately, i'd like:
    undetectable RD
    laser jammer
    veil coating
    licence plate blocking device

if you have all of those, ur pretty safe man

    got any prices dude??

i got a GB price of 10 units of the STi/XR i can't remember which, but it was $750 each

but i couldn't get the numbers to get it off the ground

if there is a resurgence of interest, i can probably still get it at that price

    they retail at over $1kAuD

i'd be interested if anyone can get them from a reliable source in the US however... that might be cheap also...

no need to cry like a baby or sulk ok, r u old enough to drive? we're all on the same team here, trying to help each other

look, i'm just saying, people should be aware that the cobra you are doing a GB on is detectable, will probably cop a $1000 fine and on top of that be confiscated

i tried running a GB on the $750 undetectable bel XR, but couldn't get the numbers

    and what is a bel75?

if you can get the XR for less than $750, i'd be interested in it

for a topic of this nature, i just think its very important that people have all the facts... so i'm here trying to inform everyone of the knowledge i acquired whilst doing some research into it - i don't know all the facts either, just a few that i'm happy to share
