One of my steering rack end boots is torn and needs replacing.

My local Auto shop only has a listing fot Z31 rack boots.

Does anyone know if there are aftermaarket boots available for the Z32 or are they the same as the Z31?

    Thanks.

When I bought my reco steering rack I dont know if there was an aftermarket rack boot available. I just bought the Nissan ones (rack ends and fittings and boots etc). I think it came to roughly 150-200 dollars. Can't really remember now. But thats for the whole kit remember. Just the boots will be much less.

    Kit

I was quoted $45 for a rack end (Z32) and $10 for a boot (Z31), so maybe half Nissan price... as normal.

    Repco

Also sell an aftermarket version for the Z32. It's probably just the Commie one in a different pack, but it's another option. I have repco ones on my Zed, as my originals were split.

Is this an easy DIY install?

Had a search in the Tech section but nothing came up. Both of mine have split :(

tie rod ends will need to come off...once there off you will be able to slide the boot off and put the new one on...and just put the tie rod end back on...make sure you know exactly how many turns or threads each one had so you can put them back on exactly the same way...otherwise you may have more turns with the steering wheel to the left than the right or vice versa...you can check this with conzult though...

also get yourself some boating grease...wen u take the boots off there will be dirt etc there, make sure you clean it thoroughly and apply heaps of boating grease...then put the boots on ;)

    Repco???

I tried Repco and Auto 1, neither had a listing for a Z32 boot, so I'll have to try the commy ones.

Thanks for the help guys. :)

Get the O.E.M.* ones as per my post below, O.E.M. is a local supplier of rubber products. Repco/AutoBarn/Supercrap should all have the catalogue.

*not to be confused with OEM... aka Nissan.
