Yay! Finally got a pod filter! stage 2 here I come! hehehe...Anyway, to get the point of the post... A friend just gave me his old pod filter, and although I've read the tech section I don't want to get all the way to the bottom of the T-Piece to find that this pod filter needs an adapter of some sort and I have to go through all the hassle again...I was wondering, does the T-Piece that the pod filter connects to have a lip? Kind of like the lip that the throttle bodies/plenum has that you connect the air intake tubes to... See, my filter needs to slot onto the T-Piece, rather than the T-Piece slotting onto the pod filter... Will I need a converter?Sorry guys, I have no photos or anything yet, I hope you understand what I mean, lol :-Z
Yeah, basically the hole in the pod filter > is it's own little rubber lip with a clamp around it... I guess you could call it a mount... It's rubber for sure the best way for me to describe it, is if you take off the air intake hoses off the plenum, the pod filter could fit directly onto the lip of the throttle bodies there (don't get me wrong, I'm not *THAT* silly, I know it doesn't belong there, it's just for the point of the example, lol)... so if the T-Piece has a lip, I should be able to fit the pod filter over the lip of the T-Piece... :-Z
It doesn't go on the "T" piece......>> It mounts to the AFM which is connected to the "T" piece. You will need to get an adaptor that bolts to the MAF and slips into the filter.
i have a spare adaptor i dont want. came with my pod but i made a simpler adaption which weighed less. to make your own, inside the old air box there is a flange which will fit perfectly, once pulled apart you'll see what i mean. it has 4 holes on a flange to fit to the afm and a aprox 1" lip for the pod. mines simpler but not many people are keen to hack apart thier afm.
Thanks Peter, do you know if a > VN Commodore converter will work? He supplied one with it, its basically has four bolts in a square formation on one end (i know you can't give me much help without the dimensions, but i'd just like to know if it's the right shape), he had one that bolted straight onto his throttle body and the other end slips into the air filter... just off the top of my head the dimensions were *about* 10cm x 10cm... maybe even 8cm x 8cm... sound about right? Thanks for your help as always :-Z
Ok, trying to find these converters... > I just rang repco and they suggested I call an exhaust place to get one made up... Can anyone suggest somewhere to buy these things? I've tried doing a search, and calling TTZed, but no luck so far...I might just try making my own, hoping it shouldn't be too difficult...
Get it from ebay. Heaps of them there and cost is peanuts you may even score a filter with it for lolley money.Peter
Thanks for all your help guys > ended up caving in and wanting to try it out sooner rather than later... Found one at autobarn which went on with a little effort... Nice and airtight though, and it's made my Z sound nice and beefy!! :}) :-Z
