I've been having troubles with the zed starting. Seems to take a long time to start, and cranks over for a good 10 seconds before I can release the key. This only happens when I havn't driven the zed for a fair while(like 5-6 hours), so the engine is resonably cool. Would this be to do with the PTU? as once I have driven it around and then try to start it it starts no worries. Only does it when the engine is cool. Runs fine after though. Also, before I had this little starting issue, the car would up the revs 200 when I engaged the heater. But now it doesn't. the revs dont change. Also seems to be idling alot faster. Even once it is warm it will still idle about 1200-1400, and occasionally drop down to 1000.

    Any ideas guys?

Could quite possibly be a air in fuel issue...

I think with PTU issues, it either works or doesnt, working when its warm sounds more like fuel, it may not necissarily be the tempurature but the time.

There could possibly be air getting into the fuel line somewhere, so the 10 seconds of cranking is what it takes to get that air out.. 5 -6 hours to get in may not be enough to effect the system when it is running..

But I would be checking all connections, elec and fuel...

    Just a thought...

Im probably wrong... so someone correct me if that is the case..

So just wait before u do anything, to see what others think.. I dont want to be the one to put you on a bum steer..

for the idle issue check the tech section under A-Z then down to idle..

Fast idle can be caused by a vacuum leak

which would also cause hard starting when cold, as the mixture will be too lean.
