    Hi all,

Just a quick one about boost. First of all, boost is great. i love boost......
I think though there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. I've got a Profec II installed, but it's not doing jack to cut the boost, it's running WAY past whatever i set it to. even got it set to 5psi, 9 psi, 11 psi, its still flying upwards past 14 when i back out of the throttle.

I've tested with a mechanical boost guage and it's pretty accurate. Z32TT suggested the solenoid might not be working, but I still have stock boost solenoids in there too so not sure how that complicates matters.

also i suspect i have a small boost leak somewhere, could that contribute? first thing ill be doing is checking wastegate motion with car up, then trying to check with EBC solenoid unplugged, and checking solenoid with 12v to see if it's actuating.

any other thoughts/things i should be doing. i really dont want to blow up this motor

    cheers

    gareth

Trust me on this ay just stick with a manual boost controller. The best way to set up those are to put it on the dyno with some one that knows how to set it up properly. Its not as simple as set your boost and off you go.

Dude forget mbc's they're crap. Unplug your stock boost solenoids from their power = done.

Make sure it is plumbed up correctly, and disconnect stock solenoids to eliminate issues that may arrise from having them connected.

take it for a drive with the EBC turned off and see if it still free boosts, it should only boost to whatever the wastegate actuators are set at. you could have a leak in the lines between the inlet manifold and the wastegate actuators.

I reckon its the solenoid. I have a boostpro boost leak tester you can borrow when you bring the SNAP ON breaker bar back.....un snapped lol

He had ezzupturbo (chris) there helping with the transplant and apparently he knows his stuff so this would have been avoided I think.

Had an interesting session with Chris last night... ahh the mysteries of the Greddy Profec :(

In short, my wastegates are working fine, and with my Greddy unit unplugged, I get 7psi perfectly. WIth Chris's Greddy box plugged in, we got controlled boost up to about 8psi on Low from memory, but on high it would overboost still. with my Greddy unit plugged in with the same settings as Chris's, it never controls the boost at all, solenoid doesnt seem to click at all (mounted by brake master cylinder so can be heard inside car).

sooo, only difference I know of his that chris's is set to bar, mine reads psi, so perhaps the settings aren't compatible. anyway i think i'll spend some time again trying to set the bloody thing, glad to know my wastegates are working....

obviously the greddy will have have to straighten up and fly right or face the bin[TIS]
