Hey yallCould somebody plz give me a quick overview of solidaxle rear suspension? Pros - cons? Also, whats liveaxle suspension? Pros - cons? Finally, coilover suspension. How does this differ from standard suspension which has the shock absorber inside the spring? What do cars like the Z32 and JZA80 have as stock? Can any car be fitted with coilovers? Why are they so costly?thanx guys :D

    Coilovers

Z32's and JAZ80's have coilovers as standard. This is when the spring is wrapped around the shock and is connected to shock at top and bottom. People often refer to aftermarket supsension where the spring and shock are sold together, but Z's have coil overs regardless.A live axle is a solid axle rear end. Pros are it's cheap and simple I suppose, and good for drag application as there is no camber change as the car squats, so you can have a near perfect tyre contact patch. It's pretty hopeless for handling though, as if one wheel is lifted on say a bump, first of all that wheel then cambers in (reducing grip) but also the other wheel will camber out. Also, as a car leans into a corner the wheel can't camber in to account for the roll. All the V8 boys/anyone here over 30 will probably know more about live rear ends :)Ben
