Hey everyone Went for a drive to Moogerah Dam yesterday and i thought to myself the whole time, what a great drive and top location to have a cruise day!! So, just thought id put the idea out there for a cruise day in a few weeks time, pending any other events such as Zedfest '08 (that i wnt b attending mind u... ) A rough idea of the cruise will be a starting point in Toowoomba, possibly Picnic Point for the people who know where it is, followed by a highway drive to our next location of Aratula, where we can stop in at the local pub for Lunch and maybe a drink if your old enough Following this, we head off for the Moogerah Dam, where we could host a Show 'N' Shine in the public area, kick back and enjoy some quiet time and check out the scenery The driving wouldnt all be boring highway driving either, with some opportunities to stretch the legs of your Z on some of the back roads so if i could get an idea of people who would be interested, and also an idea of a suitable date so i can start making plans that would be excellent
sounds a good idea ... but 4 hours driving time to/fro toowoomba for gold coasters might be a bit of a dampner ...????
Im in Brisi and it says 1hour 10min from where i live on Where is, Im keen for a Cruise there and i say everyone should bring a fishing rod and go for a bit of a fish I reckon cruiseing a beer and some fishing would go down good. Great idea choofa

If it helps people out a little. This dam is near Aratula (not too far from Boonah). Those who went to the Warwick megameet in may 2007, likely drove straight past it. It's very near where we stopped for a "piss-stop" on the way to Warwick.
Remember that there were a fair few on the sunny coast cruise from toowoomba and the surrounding region Baz? KaosZ even came from warwick I positively loved the length of the drive, i was the first one at the initial meeting point... by around 45 mins and Greg does pose a very good point. maybe if seperate meeting and cruise points could be set up depending on where members are coming from, and then we meet at Aratula for the lunch stop before heading on to Moogerah dam I will check out all the other current dates that are posted up and get a final date set, or maybe a few options and see which suits best and fishing doesnt sound too bad either Rory. I will check with my tour guide who will be cruising in my Z to see how the fishing is
hope we are not banking on catching fish for lunch .. .. my presence on any fishing outing is certain to ensure a zero catch outcome ... ( might try for yabbies as an alternative ... lol..).. ... just a clarification on the cruiZE distance .. i have in mind the excellent crazy chris cruiZe .. loved it .. but 605 kms and a 12 hours, door to door, had me a little r/s ... must be showing the age .... :biggrin: :biggrin:
Don't worry, our first port of call on the trip will be the Aratula pub for lunch there, so no need to bring a cut lunch incase the fishing doesnt go so well as for the round trip time, i dnt think i will make it such an early day as chris's cruise. i'm going to do a test run on the route from toowoomba for those who decide to kick the day off from there. I was thinking of lunch to be between midday and 1, so it wouldnt be a super early start for anyone, unless of course 10am is early for you
hmm sounds good ill be in if the i can get off work, 1thing tho altura is like on the otherside of lake moogera dam from my place its about 1hr 30mins give or take (thats from Park Ridge) altura from their is about 10-15mins drive max (thats the bumpy as hell road well about 30-40% of it anyways the rest is bitcherman(road) not so bad, but the long way around is like 30-40mins max but road all way round(pritty smooth) Altura pub is kinda big size of standard house plenty of parking for our zeds, and other variouse food and beverage venues around. hmm meeting point not too sure where everyone would like to meet, would prolly be easy to meet where everyone knows like Goodna Mac-Donalds like last toowoomba meet. (anyone else have any serguestions lol) i got 7akers at my place if everyone wants too meet their but it might be outa the way for some people. lol anywho offers in the hat. Oh sorry for the massive message
also dont know how good the fishing is their as most of the lakes use is for the speed boats, my mate and i go their all the time for skying, tubing and other things like wake boarding(which i cant doo) lol but someone should source that info out. k late
