Sunshine, clear skies, awesome views and a small but quality turn-out of Zeds....

8 Zeds ensured a sedate drive thru the most scenic parts of the Gold Coast Hinterland and NSW's Tweed caldera.... so green and lush, the grass verge almost obscuring corners, the roads virtually devoid of the usual weekend traffic :D;)

0920 we left Nerang and zedded into the majestic Numinbah Valley for a coffee stop at the Valley View Cafe, afterwhich Ky4life & Duey unfortunately had to leave us due to prior commitments.

The run into NSW saw us negotiate Chilingham without a Shrek sighting although a ford was crossed with great clouds of steam enveloping each of the 6 remaining faithful.

[Note to Duey: Couldn't stop for pics at the Smith(?) Park as it was still under water].

On thru the cane fields to the historic Tumbulgum Hotel by the Tweed River for lunch - thanks for booking Max, it was packed! We enjoyed a very pleasant lunch washed down with Baz's Chardonnay.

NB: A Groper the size of a Zed was once caught in the Tweed River at Tumbulgum - believe it or not??

The twist: west thru Murwillumbah and then north to the Tomewin Rd (crossing our tracks, but lots more twisty roads), we departed Mexico and rejoined the M1 at Currumbin.

At Mudgeeraba, around 1400, we said farewell ... great day all! [Sorry you missed racing the 'vette, FATE - you know that's not permitted ;)]

PS: Aza has a few pics/vid which may be posted in due course....?

If you don't catch it in bytes, it didn't happen. Then again, if you do, then doctor it, the new version is real. Now whose body will we put Baz' head on - hmmmmm, how about one of those honeys in Wannabe's avatar?

Glad you had a great time:thumbsup:

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Sounds like >>

another "TOP DAY" in the kingdom of Zeds.
Oh, by the way Rob, the spelling for Shrekland as you called it, is "Chillingham".:p
You certainly picked some nice roads mate, but crossing through water on your way to Tomewin?, but then Baz probably needed it to wash his car. I don't remember any water crossings when I was recently there, but hey, I stayed on the black stuff.:LOL:
Shame you didn't get more Zeds, cause they are some of the best driving roads around. Glad to hear you all had a great time.
"NOW GET BACK OVER THE BORDER":p:LOL:
See you all soon at Coona.
    Cheers

    Don't worry Keza...

We got back into paradise in quick time. The Chilingham reference was spelt correctly for Zedders ;) .. note the italics ;)

Tomewin Road return was inspired by yr recent trip but failed to excite Aza as much as the Canungra Gorge or O'Reilly's roads.... the latter being akin to MacQuarie Pass with lots of hairpins.

Baz, you weren't just hoggin the road, YOU WERE OWNIN THE ROAD

Honestly looked as if you'd been on the Chards a little early. Your constant left to right was highly amusing especially when you were on the right hand side of the double lines into some of the blindest corners. I couln't believe my eyes.

Hows a guy supposed to hoon past you when your doin things like that eh;)

    What an awesome day.

AZA, tell me now. Do you see much Fate slidin around??? Please say yes...
