Hi, Kind of bored and have been meaning to upload these for ages. Hopefully have the engine bay completed in the next few days. Anyway before and after images: If only I had known what I had started... I had the whole thing soda blasted, but don't have any pictures of that stage. These are taken just before the tow truck arrived. For those wanting to know how hard it is to get at those bloody harness bolts behind the air conditioner..... After being away for a few months (don't ask) here it is back from the spray painters. On the next two images, note the smoothed off edges where the metal joins. All that filler crap was cut out and done again before being smoothed. This is the first batch of parts that I sent off to be ceramic coated. Chromed brake booster. Sorry about the colour on this one. Surprised at how much of a bitch it was to fit those new fuel lines. Starts as 5 1/16 (factory standard) but is then up sized to -6 at the filter (and at the return line). All the fuel lines on the engine itself have been binned and replaced with Speedflow ends on -6 lines. Air con line looks wonky because it is. I got the both the bastards caught in the polisher (the top one got wrapped around the bench grinder multiple times). Had to get them leak tested multiple times And lastly, this is my Neighbour redoing his lawn after I started it for him Cheers Mark
looks mint man great effort! damn you... lol.. you beat me to posting what im doing with the smoothing the joins... but... you took the bead off completely and you can see the joins still where i am making sure it flows seamless... looks great but if your going to all the effort.. why not relocate all your gear, will make the engine bay so much nicer... engine painting scheme is the same too... just.. red lol.. love the work man keep it up
Hi Mark, nice work there, very impressive Can you please tell me what that dark cylinder thing is at the top there? It's got a cable coming out of it running left to right and its sitting just behind the throttle cable...
brake brace Looks like you have the bolt the wrong way round. Shouldn't the bolt be against the cylinder to spread the load?
That is going to be one special Zed when it's finished. You attention to detail is impressive and will show it's true value on completion. Great job....:zlove: Tony
That looks sweet! Love the bling you've added. Will look very impressive once all together. What's with the last pic, very random? lol
Mark's "CHILI BRACE" was one of the first batch, and the car on which it was test-fitted didn't have sufficient room for the bolt head to fit between the brace and the M/Cyl.(all subsequent braces have the hardware the opposite way around. Either way works fine, but the second option is now the preferred one, and they now come pre-assembled in that format). By the look of it, Mark's car has ample room to reverse the bolt position(and that would be my advice at this time). CHILI:zlove:
Yeah I was a bit disappointed about that. I had asked them to remove the bead and smooth it flat but they said they couldn't as time didn't permit (so were going to leave the bead alone). However when the car arrived to them after the soda blasting, some of the bead had been damaged so they redid it....just not how I wanted it. By the time I saw it, it had already been painted so it was way too late Red... is there any other colour?
Yep, cruise control as bluecube said. Now just need to get the cable made a little shorter as it is about 50cm too long.
It was on the same SD card... Probably doesn't belong in the Z Related section, but couldn't help myself
TheSmurf Project Pics Hi there TheSmurf, WOW! Great project pictures there mate - nice and detailed, just fantastic! Ah, the memories - I once went to this effort on a previously owned car (unfortunately not a Zed) and I know exactly what you are going through. You have great attention to detail and it shows, keep up the great work and just think there is actual light at the end of that BIG dark tunnel. All the best for the finished product. Oh, yeah there is actually one other colour than red - BLACK Seeya, thanks for sharing.
Great work there mark! It seems when i stop hassling you about questions and the 360 gets put away, allot of work can be done. Paint looks great, and the chrome, its obvious your pockets run deeper then mine I had planned to get my car running this weekend, but dad somehow mis-placed the intake/plennum gasket and i didn't have a transmission alignment tool, so the closest thing i could get to "finishing" mine was reinstalling the interior, sititng the block into the engine bay, and bolting up the engine mounts. :bash: Great work none the less mark, hope to see it "loon"ing around soon, no pun intended
