Hi I'm a new member and a few weeks ago I bought a 1989zx Z32 but I got a problem that I can't solve. after 30 0 45 minutes of driving there is a light that comes on I think the name is cat over temperature ,is a red light but the gauge of temperature stays normal I don't know what do I have to do I asked my mechanic but neither does he . Could you give some advise about it please I'm worried. thanks
The cat over temp light is shaped like a muffler. A lot of blokes have just cut them at the cats then tape up or heat shrink the cable. Have a look under the car as they shafe thru where they go thru the body above the cats. Cheers Dave

Your car may be running too rich, if so, the increase of unburned fuel entering your Cats will trigger the sensors and illuminate the warning light. This won't have any serious immediate effect other than being annoying, however, prolonged exposure to unburned fuel can eventually destroy the internals in the Cats(which can lead to you being "booked" for excessive emissions). Check with your mechanic.

Read again what chili said, because 99% of the time, that is why in light comes on. It's probably in safety boost to, check that out.
