hi every1 id like some1's wisdom on this topic. Sometimes when i start my Z the power steering is essentially GONE!! Ive had to drive like this on some occassions although i didnt want to incase im doing damage. Does any1 kno whats the problem im taking the car into my mechanic soon but he wasnt to sure wat the problem could be.... and ive been told by a mate from uni that its appraently a common problem...... and could be electrics (jumping voltages)(which im leaning towards because last time it happened i restarted the car and it dissapered) or the motor that controls the power steering......

Now i shoulddddd metion that before this problem the car's powersteering was completely gone because the steering rack was stuffed.

That has been repaired but because of that i cant narrow down the problem as ive never had the car when it had proper sterring (i got it like this)

Im hopping something is just loose or along those lines from when the steering rack was put in but my brothers and me have neverrr had a problem with my mechanic so yeh...

All help is much appreciated Thanks

Could be electrical, dash supplies speed to ECU which uses it to activate power steering. Faulty signal means ECU will disengage PS.

    Or could be low fluid?

It could be a number of things I'm afraid to say. Do a search on this topic as there has
been a number of members fairly recently, with similar issues to what you describe.
I recently replaced my rack and also installed a modified pump to solve my problems.

    Its not low fluid

nah its definitly not low fluid, before the steering rack was repaired it was leaking but that was fixed and its full ive checked it like 3 times lol...at first i did hope the fluid had just settled from inital filling but its not that...unfortunatly
