Does anyone here have Pics and/or Schematics of the PS Pump Adjusting mechanism(not the useless crap shown in the WSM)? I am currently unable to achieve ANY movement of the Pump in either direction using the adjustment screw/bolt.
I assume you've loosened the other mounting bolts? Sometimes they need a bit of WD40 and a couple of love taps to get them moving
Your not wrong about that Marcus. To think that all this crap started with a dead Injector. I haven't had a car for many weeks since(it's become a yard ornament).
Normally needs some love taps with a bar and a hammer. The hydraulic hoses seem to really hold it in place. Bit of a rubbish design on Nissan's part... I love cars with autotensioners.
I can only see one other bolt head and it is seized solid(about 17mm I think, on the top edge of the Pump). I tried every type of spanner that I could get down in there, but just can't get enough leverage to break it loose(even with a socket & Breaker Bar). The bloody WSM only shows the small Locknut on the side of the curved adjuster slot.
Thanks Chris, I'll give that a try(normally I don't believe in the old "if it don't move, get a bigger Hammer" philosophy, but this thing is only one step away from 2 litres of fuel and a box of matches.
Have you soaked it with inox or something? hopefully it will soften up a bit over night. The other trick is to hold the spanner or breaker bar at tension on the bolt and give the handle taps with a hammer, this is less likely to break or strip the bolt than using constant force is.
To adjust the belt you need to loosen the pivot bolt then the nut that is accessed through the pulley hole first. If you are trying to tighten the belt then you just adjust the belt up. But if you want to loosen the the belt you will more than likely need to carefully lever the pump loose with a breaker bar after backing of the adjustment bolt or sometimes the pump will move looser if you squeeze the belt together. To get the belt off and on without loosening just undo the pulley nut and remove the pulley with the belt then put the new belt on with the pulley. Can be a pain in the arse sometimes but gets easier each time. Cheers Dave P.s If you don,t loosen the nut that goes thru the adjustment bolt first the adjustment bolt won,t budge.
