hallo just pulled apart some of the z today to replace my alternator belt, taken out the radiator, fan etc, and im stuck at the power streering belt, tried everything to get it to budge to get the belt off, cant remember how i done it, when i replaced my alternator, as it was so long ago!

can any one give good explanation on how to do it, maybe some pics? really shitting me now :).

also once back on, what is the best way to get the belt tensioned nicely on the power steering.

    1) crack the starter motor until the holes on the PS pulley line up with the top mounting bolt.
    2) Loosen with a ratchet and short extension.
    3) Undo bottom tensioning gear (self explanatory)

    Couldn't be easier

If you are still lost, check out the Factory Service Manual. New belt deflection should be 10.5 - 11.5mm. Might be a good time for a new belt.

so you mean once the top bolt is loose on the power steering pump it can turn? and then the bottom bracket can swivel? i loosened just about everything =] and couldnt get her to budge a fraction. the top bolt behind the pulley is the only one i didnt loosen as my socket was a lil fat, and wasnt bothered finding one of my other ones =] because it was getting dark.

Even though you loosen the top pivot bolt it can still stay tight due to a sleeve in the pivot mount. Paint on the lower sliding bracket can also cause that end to stick. Try using a hammer handle as a lever to get the pump to pivot.

thanks good tip, wont be able to try untill later today, but i may even pull the whole thing out and take it to be reco'd since ive pulled everything out again.

last time i bought a power steering belt, i wasnt sure if it was the right one, as they didnt have the part number, in the book, and this time they given me the completely wrong one.

any one know the part number?

NA and TT power steering pump belts are different. NA is 3 peak, TT is a 4 peak.
The book they have at the car shops should specify either NA or TT... The part numbers are in the tech section too man. Do a search
