    Heyas,

Ive had a P/S leak for a while now, getting it fixed on the 7th along with a 100km service. As my P/S fluid is running out... I went to buy some new P/S fluid.. only to find that its clear instead of red.. is it alright to mix the fluids or will my pump get screwed? If I don't fill it up, my pump will be f/k'ed anyhow I think...

Its mobil fluid 424 (As mobil one engine oil is what im getting in my car... I assumed mobil fluids would be good, and the guy at "X" said it was fine)

My noobiness when coming to cars is sure shining, any help would be great, there wasnt anything on this in the tech section (Probably common knowledge to most.. but as said before.. im a n00b =( )

We use Mobil 424 in the Fluid drive couplings at work. Take it back and get Auto. Trans Fluid

Theres also a compatible p/s fluid out there that i use. Its made by castrol and comes in like a small black botel and it says on it its compatible with all p/s fluids. Ive been using it for over 6mths now since my car too is leaking p/s and i didnt know what was in it before hand. Been using it in the family car too without any probs, works a treat!!! You can buy it at super cheap its not expensive either around $6-$9.

Anyhow dude hope that helps out

    Power Steering...

Hi Maurth...where in Sydney are you? Had this problem for ages previously and decided it was all too hard (and very expensive!!) to just give over to 'get fixed'. Finally, did my own repair using copper tubing; had one hiccup early days, but have since solved the problem completely. There are also simpler ways to go to save yourself heaps. Get in touch and I'll help out...
    Mike.

hate to be the one to burst the bubble

but if you have P/S leaks it might be your 'power steering rack'. I almost had to get a new one imported. But found a nice clean 2nd hand one. Cost 700$ ro replace and fit dead one.

A bit of putty might be your friend though.

Had the car checked out at autotech, told them about my P/S leak, they looked the car over and said it was the hoses, they found a few other things which is why im getting the 100km service done... *prays its not the rack* dont have to much spare $$ anymore... but will check it out, thanks =)
