I've never seen one of these on a Z

Could be a TT Oil cooler, not power steering. The european Z's had gearbox and diff coolers, could also be one of them.

As Mike said that is a stock TT oil cooler. The Z32 runs the powersteering return line accross the front of the car in front of the radiator support panel to cool the steering fluid.

    Thanks but ...

Thanks guys - so concensus is it's a stock TT oil cooler - so I'm assuming the N/A's didn't have one, although am wondering why ...

Anyway - have any N/A folks out there fitted one and if so was it relatively straight forward? Any benefits?

Because NAs don't have oil/water cooled turbos they don't heat the oil like a TT does. Unless you were taking the car on the track I doubt you would get much benefit from the cooler. It would be a big job to fit the cooler like standard since it would require the sump and oilfilter adaptor to be swapped with those from a TT. If you really wanted to do it you would be better off fitting a sandwich plate before the oilfilter and a bigger aftermarket cooler.
