Does anyone know if there is any difference between the blazt consult cable and the PLMS one? I mean in terms of function...both do exactly the same thing yeah? Cause I think I lost my blazt cable (in the mess that is my shed) so I'm looking now and it looks like the PLMS cable is the same thing, just much cheaper and with a better design, but wanted to check it is the same thing.

Cheaper still. Thanks, i missed them. I'm now thinking to give the ebay one a shot. Not just for the price, but more the design. I like how it's a single unit. Also means it will be easy to swap cables over. Just checking with seller to see what schematic they followed (assuming they know lmao).

The ebay one has a very chunky bit to hang off your consult plug. The ECUTalk and Blazt cables are much neater.

That's the point. The ebay one plugs in and you could leave it there, only having to plug in a cable when you want to check something. Much easier and stronger than a fragile cable. You can't leave the whole cable plugged in, else you'd have to worry about it coming around your feet and crap (though you could tie it up, still the ebay option takes care of all of that).

Dunno, just the ebay one seems alot neater and compact IMO. Like a single unit, not a unit AND a cable in one.

I left my blatz cable in, you wouldnt even know its there unless you looked.

Just as easy to plug whole cable into Consult socket as to plug a serial cable into the ebay adaptor.

well cant say ive heard that one before, but if you like getting chunks taken out of your knee every time you hit it on the box sticking out, go for it!

as for your original question, the cables are all functionally the same, made for the same purpose etc. they all have slightly different designs, so potentially the chinese box one may not work, but normally if it doesnt work its due to assembly error rather than circuit design issue (they dont test them after assembly at the manufacturer, and most resellers wont waste time testing them, and most probably wouldnt even have a nissan to test on). this guy on ebay does test them as far as im aware, he's said they often come wired up wrong etc.

That is a good point, I didn't think of that.

    Thanks for the info.

Sorry for pulling up an old thread. When I got my blazt kit it came with a consutlt cable with a rs232 termination. Now it's working just fine with my PPC for ECUTalk via a serial cable connected to it. However, my new laptop (old one with rs232 port crapped out) doesn't have a rs232 port.
Can I use this USB/RS232 conector and connect it to my consult cable to use ECUTalk/blazt with my new laptop?

Thank you immensely sir for the quick reply.
So that cable will do the trick?
Will I be able to also use it with NIStune if I decide to go that route this summer?

ftdi ones support windows 7 and should work fine with nistune.

no idea on that, or pretty much anything other than ftdi as everyone uses ftdi. im sure plenty other work fine, just hard to know which ones they are.

especially if you're going to use nistune, i'd just get the ftdi one

I just recieved my Innovate LC-1. Not even thinking that it also uses a rs232 serial conection as well.
I think I have to order a second one of those USB adapters now. Dang, what was I thinking.
