This may be the first of many questions but i am having difficulty removing the two bolts marked in green. I used a modified small 10mm spanner but there isn't much room around there and they are done up real tight. I was wondering what others have done. Cheers James
im pretty sure i just used a socket and rachet. not much you can do really, just keep applying pressure to get it off...solvents will help.
If you remove that black turbo pipe then it gives you way more room to work with. I used a 10mm spanner and broke the thread with a decent hit with a smaller hammer....
Plenum Pull Advice Hi there seaweed, Yep, to all of the above. When I removed mine, I used a small ring spanner to release the bolt to the PCV hard pipe underneath and to provide more room I loosened the turbo hard pipe (the blue spot and associated hose clamps) and removed it to make the job easier. Hope it all works out for you - not a very difficult job, just time consuming. Cheers.
10mm bunnings 1 dollar spanners, cut 2 shape. or u can just cut the line if your gonna remove your egr... (reccomended)
2nded with WazTTed...i had an absolute bitch of a time getting this off...when it was due for a service i just had my egr disconnected for the time being and those pipes cut off and the holes filled ...plus u might wanna do an under plenum water hose bypass as well
Thanks to everyone for your replies. I am finding that a lot of the rubber hoses are disintegrating as I remove them so this is working out to be a very worthwhile exercise. Unfortunately we have a police force up here who enjoy sending cars over the pits. in fact the inspection pits are often opened Thursday and Friday night till midnight and the cops will personally escort your car there if they think there is a problem. So EGR removal is not an option in Cairns.
Another Question Now that I have the plenum off it is really obvious how bad most of the electrics are. Not just the connectors, much of the wiring looks brittle. I am wondering has anyone changed the harness while the engine is in and the plenum off, or do you have to take the entire engine out to achieve that task?. :zlove:
You may find it easier and cheaper to replace all connectors. It's not the wire that's brittle, just connectors and some outer insulation. Caz1 can supply most parts and it takes about 4 hrs to replace them. Re-wrap loom(s) in insulation tape to finish off. :zlove:
I may have some spare connectors james and adam just did that job on his mates zed give me a call tomorrow arvo would like to have a look
I have got everything back together but there is one remaining question. The coil plug connectors for cylinders 4 and 6 come out of the same loom and I am unsure which is which. Does any one know the colour codes of the wires for each connector??? (I looked in the circuit diagram and it is not stated) :zlove:
