Could someone please help with this?

I took the zed to mechanics for a plenum pull, to replace burst hose, ans thought to replace all plenum, heater and pass-side turbo hoses (as the d/side were done 2 days before). With parts from TTzed mechanics did the job but now:

    1) it appears they didn't replace the heater hoses

    2) they said there were no pass-side turbo hoses

    3) the car idles rough as guts

    4) the boost guage doesn't work

    5) there is a bad fuel smell when cold

    6) they used some sort of sillicon seal on the ballance tube which seems a bit dodgy?

if some one could give me some advice?

I have already decided to get a new mechanic!

    cheers

Yes, best start with a new mech or fix yourself ...>>

maybe with a little help from some zed friends.

    1) You can replace heater hoses with plennum on.

    2) You need a better mechanic.

    3) Sounds like a major vacuum leak, check all the vacuum hoses are connected.

    4) Probably part of your vacuum leak problems. The boost sensor connects via vacuum hose to the balance tube.

    5) Tighten all the hose clamps under the bonnet, they probably didn't do them up enough.

    6) Sealant isn't required, three orings do that job. See 2.

    You could do most of 1, 3, 4 & 5 yourself.

Try doing a search of Blow Up Intake for details on how to thuroughly check for vacuum leaks.

    Cheers

    dodgey work,

Hi there, If you not happy with the work they did, take it back to them, make a list and let them know everything, if they don't help you can take it further, if they used silicone on the manifold, that can kill O2 sensors, it has to be an RTV type sealant, like Ultra blu etc.. don't pay for dodgey work and don't let them get away with it...

Well Kurt most of all I'm glad you're getting a new mechanic.

The one you have now knows shit!
I bet he knows how to bill you though. Funny that.

    Where to begin.

The balance tube has 'O' rings and doesn't need sealant.

The passenger side turbo has hoses how else would it be cooled?

Why didn't they replace the heater hoses - did you supply them from TTZ?

Rough idle could be a vacuum hose (or hoses) off somewhere. This will probably be why your boost guage doesn't work.

Fuel smell is probably because they haven't tightened up a fuel line clamp somewhere. You really need to find that one in a hurry.

As you are in Vic I think most of the members here would recommend you take it to Joe at Nissport.

Sorry you have had such a bad start to your Z experience. Your first post and all.

    Hope this helps.

    thanks!

cheers! i guess if you want a job right you have to do it yourself! thanks for the help!

what really worries me is that they didn't charge me a cent - nor did they give me a list of works done! but i'll follow that up. i'm going to see if i can make sense of that beast!

    thanks

They probably got half way through the job...

realised they had no idea what they were doing in a zed engine bay, wacked it all back together and hoped you'd dissapear.

Make sure you get back any parts you gave them but they didn't fit, and go somewhere else.
