Dirifticon you can put the filter anywhere you want. The kit has a bracket/fitting that you put where you want and then the oil filter just screws on as usual.

ZX2NV will post up some pics of his so you can see, its really very simple.
    Caz.. :)

Okay all get your reading glasses and pay attention

This is the kit that caz is selling with a few personal mods made by me which I will indicate in blue writing.

Firstly this is a pic of the cooler mounted. Note the loop hose on the existing cooler pipes (left hand side) this hose is just looped from the outlet to the inlet to kkep the flow circulating I didnt reuse the existing hoses etc I ran the new supplied hoses. I originally had the cooler mounted directly behind my intercooler and relocated it to this position after I found the temps were getting higher than normal due to the extra heat from the cooler. I made up some brackets and mounted the cooler at a slight angle to help aid undercar vaccum flow at speed. I did put a fan on there to aid in high temps on the track and also cool downs at the track. Teh fan draws air from the air intake chamber area and pushes through the cooler into the low pressure zone under the car and works very very well indeed so much so I have setup the fan to cycle off a greddy multiswitching system, this was done to avoid the oil getting to cold and altering its lubricating properties.

This is the oil filter spin on relocator supplied with the kit. The supplied fittings are a straight design coupled together with a long radius bend on the hose to prevent kinking at high temps is no good. I sourced 90 degree fittings and a separator bush from Pirtek hoses for about $28 The supplied hoses run along the chassis and up under the drivers side headlight.

You can clearly see in this pic that the straight fittings supplied wont clear and will hang down and become the low point of your car look out speed humps sssppppeeeewwww:D :D

Here is a pic of the oil filter mount and filter and associated custom fittings. I located the filter on the chassis rail on the drivers side of the car where the old SMIC used to be. I purcahsed the rather funky tee bushes seen here to accomodate my oil temp sender and oil pressure tranduscer for my splitfire pillar mounted gauges, I also fitted new brass bushes and brass straight hose joiners and extra hose here. $85I fiited the gauges sensors here to keep them far away from the heat of the exhaust and turbos to alleviate any errors in the readings due to heatsoak. The extra hose was needed and used due to my layout. I fiited new brass unions and fittings as the supplied ones are alloy and I didnt want to risk cracking them by overtightening. The outlet hose goes over to the cooler. So I have the oil filter supply hose come of the spin on collar mounted on the sump tree goes to the oil filter then to the cooler and back to the tree to complete the circuit.

It is a really good kit and well worth the money I paid quite a bit more for mine several months ago. If anyone gets one of these and needs to as kany questions etc feel free.

Hope this info is helpful and sorry all for the long story.

    Cheers

    Jason

    Is overkill a bad thing???

If I were to get a 450hp one on a basically stock Z, would that be too much??? I'll gradually mod the Z but after one overheated engine, I'm looking into a lot of cooling gear first.

I will bring both the oil and transmission coolers to the Sydney tech day for anyone wanting to have a look at them.

Count me in for a 450hp one. Got some rebuilding coming up with some nice goodies so I dont want the motor to burn up.

Last question on this, I promise - can we just use factory lines?

I have (upgraded) side mount intercoolers in factory location, so there's no advantage for me in relocating the oil cooler.

If I wanted, is there any issue with me just using the factory lines and doing a "straight swap" for this oil cooler? (ie not bothering with the oil filter relocation plumbing?)

Just trying to keep things simple where possible.

Finally, is the oil flow through this cooler the same as factory? I hear that restrictors are needed so the oil spends enough time in the cooler to, uh, get cold. SOrry if this has already been covered.

Living where we do I doubt that running too cold would ever be a concern. If we were in Japan it might be a possability??.
But if you do live in an area that has extremely cold periods and that aspect concerns you, you could always fit a thermostat. That way 90% of the oil bypasses the cooler until a certain temp is reached.

Put me down as a possible for a 250 HP. Is there any issue with mounting this infront of the radiator, as I have a NA and don't have inlets on the side of my front bar.
