I want to get some paint made up to suit the zed, is it just a matter of taking my paint code to the paint shop and getting it made up? Is it possible to get it made up with a bit of fade to match my current paint? How would I match the paint to blend in exactly? Also there is a bit of glitter in the paint when I look at it in the sun light, is that part of the paint code or does the glitter stuff get added on? What about clear coat is there a particular one I should get or are they all pretty much the same? Hope someone can help, cheers.
With both of my cars including my Z, I have payed Rice barn (autobarn) a visit on different occasions if I have needed to re-paint a panel or colour code something, it's as easy as giving them your paint code & waiting around 15 minutes. For I think, $20.00 a can, if this is what your planning to do. For clear coat, I have just used the one by K&H & have never had a problem with it, hope this helps. Cheers, Mike
Im planning to spray a body kit (front rear and sides). Got just about everything I need to do it, just need to get the right paint. Im thinking if I take my petrol cap and my paint code to the paint shop, would they match it up?
Yeah i think they could, best way is to probably ring and ask. I know they also put a flexing agent in the paint when doing bumpers because they're made to be flexible as well..
Any idea how many littres I will need for a front bar, rear bar and sideskirts? Was thinkig 2L would be enough hopefully have a bit left over too for any touch ups.
I used 1L to paint my front bar and headlight panel and have some left over. The paint I used is mixed down 1 part acrylic to 1.5 parts of thinner with some component of "flex add". Some times there is a darker variant (as with my car) of the colour so you should bring a sample into the paint shop and I would use a "car paint shop" that way you can get reliable advice. You will also need a plastic primer and I would lightly sand the plastic to get rid of the gloss first to ensure the paint sticks.
Mine too.. ...when I did my airbox cover they even came outside (sun shining clear day) and with some of the paint in a cap checked it against my car. They pretty much got it spot on...
Where are ya mate If you're anywhere near Mandurah, go into Peel paints with your paint code and fuel lid and they will be able to match near perfectly. If not near Mandurah then your nearest paint shop should be able to do it. Hope this helps. Andy
