Does any one know what the punishment is in victoria if you are caught driving a "high powered turbo Vehicle"??
Because i am thinking about buying this zed down the road because he has had it for sale for soooo long and has dropped his price to in my price bracket so i was just wondering what would happen if i got caught driving it :D

I think they have recently upped the points for that.

How much longer till you are off your P's? Might be worth buying and just leave it in the shed for a while.

I dont think there's any "if" about it .. just a case of when

then again, you might just get away with it provided you dont drive it anywhere near the police

If you had 6 months id say yeah go for it, but 2 years? it'll be too big of a temptation to drive it and getting done for it isn't worth it in the long run. Zeds are still gonna be around in two years man... Just my 2c

I suppose you got to ask yourself - "do i really want to take the risk?" keep saving and in two yrs time you can get a better zed maybe or one that you can do up the way you like... too much money to risk.
(anyone got change for a 5c) lol jj

I'd keep away... Keep saving, or buy a project Zed. Too much of a risk.

yeah well i was thinking about getting one and basically dont put a battery in it... so all i can do is spend money on it instead of driving it so when i am off my p plates it will be mad

I wouldn't risk it. Honestly you won't enjoy it as you'll always be wondering if today is the day you will get caught. As soon as cops see p-plates and a sports car it's almost certain you will get pulled over for one of their 'random breath tests'.
I rode my bike once before I got my bike license. Just two kays down the road and back. Would you believe the first car I saw was a cop car! Luckily they didn't pull me over but that was the last time I did it.

In my last zed which was NA.. i never ever ever got pulled over once... this was on my red p's btw which are huge cop magnets... if you do get it keep it stock standard, def no bov etc and drive like a granny... if you can help it dont drive it at all obviously... Ive got a year left on my greens and am starting to consider just buying a turbo instead of another NA but i really doubt i could resist the temptation to drive it. One other thing is insurance, i don't think the insurance company will help out if you have an accident and are driving a prohibited vehicle..

Ive been pulled over once in my tt zed, and about 5 times in my corolla lol. never got done, the police where I live aren't very switched on to japanese imports so im probably just 'lucky'. having said that, I rarely drive my zed nowdays so its no longer a problem. but as stated above, you can forget insurance cover.

EDIT: btw Im on my green p's with 2 years left.

If you can buy it and not drive it for 2 years, go for it.. But if you lack the self control forget it. I can think of better ways to waste a grand!

Plus, unless it's fantastic value for money tt zed prices will probably drop even more by the time you are able to drive them legally..

3 points for the over powered. i think

3 points for EACH p plate not displayed.

3 points for driving a manual if you have an auto license

is it worth it? no IMO

I wouldnt worry about the cops as much, but instead the insurance companies probably wont want to know you when they find out your driving a restricted vehicle and you have an accident. That's when the S#1t really hits the ceiling!

Also, being on P plates myself, how does one go about getting an exemption to drive a turbo car?

only car in the family i can drive...

my friend got exempted for driving his s15 because he said it was manual and his parents didnt know how to drive manual so that was the only car he had access to...

or if your a girl...... i didnt know it was a v8.. i just bought it. what do i do? *starts crying*

It's hard to be patient when you are young. Who didn't sneak into a pub at 17? I sure did. Got thrown out from time to time, but that was all in the game.

But this is a horse of a totally different colour. The mistakes you make here will follow you for years and years, and if you hit someone and find your insurance is inoperative, it could cripple you financially for life.

If you truly love the Zed (and who doesn't :zlove:) get a NA and wait for your time to come.
