Hey guys ok the story is that i was driving from city to the outskirts on saturday (bout a 20 min drive) an just as i pull'd up i smelt coolant an thort SHIT looked at temp an it was on the rise got to about 3/4 on the stock gauge. Got out an heard bubbleing an then got to front of car an there was coolant pissing out of the overflow bottle. So i thort it was faulty thermostat so took it out an went for test drive an all was fine again temp was sitting good till today when i was sitting out front of a mates house (car running) when it happend again.

So my question is what is causein this overheating i've ruled out thermostat an when the cap is off water is flowing so can't be waterpump(or could it) or could it be that the fan is not spining as fast as the enging an may be fooked. I have takin it for several long drives an hasnt done it but i havent let it sit to see if it will boil over again. Seems to overheat while sittin thats why iam thinking the fan aint locking in an spining as fast as engine.

Hope this all makes sense any help would be great
    Cheers jamie.

    Hey dude

from what i gather mine used to do the same thing turned out to be my radiator was like 40% blocked, funny thing was it wouldnt do it everyday even though i drove it everyday but when it would do it just like yours coolant would piss out of the overflow as well....just something to consider.

    regards,
    John

Yeah but the thing is 1 month ago i pulled the radiator out replaced the top tank flushed the cooling system an unblocked the core an have been running anti-freeze an water 50-50 so i guess that kinda rules that out.

    But thanks any way dude.

    Was thermo

fan on when it over heated? sounds like you need the radiator
rodded, and the system checked over.

    Not really dude

changing the tank and flushing it doesnt mean its unblocked, you need to get it rodded for it to be unblocked.

    regards,
    John

    To test your clutch fan,

Start a cold motor and observe the rotational direction of the clutch fan.
Get the flap of a cardboard box (a cardboard carton). Roll/fold into a long tube, and introduce the cardboard to the fan gently, (knowing that you know the way that the fan is rotating, you'll be able to figure out what angle to introduct the carboard to the fan).
When the motor/clutch fan assy is cold, there should be very little drive, in other words, the fan should be easy to stop.
Then take the car for a drive, and get it all hot. When the clutch fan assy is hot, you should not be able to stop the fan with the cardboard.
If you can stop the fan while it's hot, then the clutch fan needs repairing or replacing.

Please note, this is what I have been told by a radiator shop, is a relatively standard test performed by radiator shops as a fan test.

    Disclaimer:
Shove things in your engine fan at your own risk, I am not saying you "should" do it, but that you can do it :D

Get a pressure test done on cooling system - at any good workshop or radiator repair specialist.
