The rear indicators on my new zed have been cleared but the original white bulbs are still installed. The guy at Repco told me that I will need new bulb holders to fit the orange bulbs. Is there a replacement orange bulb available to fit the standard holders? If so where can I get them? If not where can I get new bulb holders? What have other people with cleared indicators done about installing orange bulbs?
not sure about the original rear lights but when i had the 'ferrari' tails i went to autobarn and they had a huge selection of bulbs...i found one that was a perfect fit....maybe check them out and see if they have some that match the stock tail lights.
Had the exact same prob. I bought them from the UK This place is good: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180303675442&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT its a bit hit and miss with the auto stores here...they all carry falcadore bulbs no prob...
Get the orange bulbs from repco/supercheap or wherever, i got ones from there and they fitted straight in, if your unsure take the old bulb down with you and make sure the bases are the same
Or you could do what i did and just jam them in The barbs on the bulbs for mine were slightly different but i still got it to go in... but just don't break it. The best solution is take the original bulb with you to the auto store... if they still can't help you, never go back again!
^what he said^ Mine didn't locate properly, but some gentle persuasion got them in. Being a single filament bulb, it wasn't so important
I got some orange spray.... I can't remember the name but it was made especially for tinting light bulbs, ask around some auto stores. I remember ONE orange bulb was going to cost about $7 and I bought this can of spray for about $8. I bought a whole box of plain bulbs and sprayed the lot with the one can of spray. I now have a lifetime supply of orange bulbs and they are the right fit, no need to jam them in.
i just went to autobarn with the original globe and got a amber replacement... i got the chrome ones though so it doesnt show any ugly orange through the clear diffuser... (obviously amber though when activated) ...
wacko, flame ... as per the chad thread ... AUTOBARN have them in orange or in chrome/orange ... .. some bulbs do have a high/low barb .. easily fixed with a little filing .... if Baz can do .. anyone can do ...!!!!
All that's needed is a standard 1156 amber bulb. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1156...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item518d9d0dfc http://www.optionsauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PLG-M8 http://www.eautoworks.com/product-PIAA-907.htm
Question for those with chromed/amber globes.. How bright do you find them?? After reading this thread and having them sitting around for a while thought i'd install them.. Mine are not as bright as I thought they would be.. ??
it depends what you are using them in. if they are modded tail lights with your own diffuser installed then it wont be as bright as the original 2k spec ones as the clear diffuser in them have a pattern in the diffuser which disperses the lightt... if they are not bright enough for your liking with modded tail lights get some l.e.d's
Cheers Chad, Looks light I may try a different set of chromed globes and mine are original 99 J-spec taillights....
..with cleared rears, i found that the "chromed/amber" were too weak in daylight ... went back to the standard orange bulbs ......
brightlightautoparts.com have a huge range of globes at competitive prices, brought a heap of globes for spares but yet to use them. Only used the H3C headlights, which im not to happy with as they are not as bright as the stock globes, but i guess there is nowhere to buy good H3C globes: beggers cant be choosers.
