It was good to catch up with the Sydney mob. There were lots of Zeds on the track. I've attached a few pics: Parked: and out on the track: Tim's (from UAS) car was a bit worse for wear after a meeting with a wall. Some drifting: Cheers, Peter
Eight Zeds on the track With nine drivers competing, with another four or five in the pits, it was a good roll up and a good showing by the Sydney crew. As usual JP led the way with the slot car, running a 49 something lap with a new motor that only went in late the night before. Good to see some newbies having a go, Dave b and Jim (not a forum member) and Caz having her first run on the track and aquiting herself very well with the lap times comming down each lap. Enjoyed myself, even with only getting about five laps per session, having to come in with overheating problems, That along with a cracked windscreen, fuel starvation, and tyre adheshion problems i still managed to have a good time.
 now I definantly need a new set of brakes. 0:52.5220 Last time - 0:53.2330 - .771 faster 0:49.5480 - 2.974 off John's. :|
Eight Zeds on the track.....With nine drivers competing??? OK Wiz, who had the Dual Control Z32?:LOL::LOL: Great to see such a good roll-up.
Fantastic day, unreal company and just tooooo much fun....... I was anxious, didnt know what to expect of myself or my Zed.....well we both survived unscaithed:thumbsup: Tho I do fear I have 'girlie' arms as my shoulders and upper arms are sore today. I had a session with Ian Dyk (who holds the lap record for OP in a GT3) in my passenger seat instructing me and that was fantastic, also went round the track with Ian Luff in a 4wd...which was interesting. To all you guys at the track thankyou soooo much for your help and support throughout the day,I appreciate it very much.:zlove::zlove::zlove: A few pics.
soooo much fun! Hey guys, I just gotta say, that was the best fun ive had in my zed since ive owned it and that you guys are just such a kind and welcoming bunch when we get together. After coming within millimetres of that wall, I am glad to say that I have got my nerves back again (just cant wait to see the pics of it from the UAS photographers) it was great to have pro instructors for us newbies, when i had Ian Dyk in my zed he showed me the techniques that i needed to know (until the back came out!) Looking forward to seeing ya's at events to come (I think im addicted now) Regards, dave :zlove:
Panda's plight. Panda visited the run-off area at the end of the main straight a few times yesterday. How many people think this may have contributed to his reputation as a "hopeless driver"?
Cracked rotors?? That is not cracked rotors that is broken and amazing. Also you guys should be closer to the wall going down the straight for faster time, sets you up better for turn one and also should stay right after coming onto the straight after turning left.
Panda's dad, Red Panda also drove a session...thats the 9th driver Maybe that was after you had to go Chili?, oh..and thanks for letting me wear your special racesuit jacket for my first time out on the track Chili:zlove:
Top day... Thanks for the day JP.... some laptimes Once again, UAS track day was a lot of fun. Great to see all the Zeds on the track, they all look awesome. Caz busted out a great lap for a first timer, a 56.82 JT flew with a 51.53 Dave_B managed a slick 56.13 Wizard overheated a sizzling 54.29 JP slotted a 49.548 I bounced about with a 55.12 yah hoo catching the turbo's Gotto say that the datsun 120y creamed all with a 49.546,wot a crazy world we live in  Wayne
Great day of racing. New PBs all round. My best was 51.5, about .5 better than last time and 1.9 behind JP so pretty happy with that. After seeing what happened to Tim I was giving myself a bit extra space from that wall though!
What a great turn out.......>> Good to see so many new members getting out on the track, and congratulations to those who improved their times. Hopefully the next Melbourne event (Cup Eve at Calder) will see similar numbers.
Closer to the wall Oh no. I see what happens when they get that wall. As you can see my brakes and (I only went off the end once) my driving needs a bit more practice. :embarrassed: Good thing I was at the track and not.. You know Top day, and didn't rain just as Caz said it wouldn't. PS.. I think that happened on the 2nd last lap of the day and the last lap was very slow. Not just overheated but fasnikered.
Race driver Ports I think you will find the 56 was Caz's car but Ian Dyke pro driver steering it. Great to have Caz out with us finally and one of three ladies driving on the day. Times will be on our site prob tomorrow for driver training purposes.
It was not Ian Dyk  That was me...all by myself....last session! Ian came out with me second session, but he was never behind the wheel.
