    Hello Members,

The Only Official Oran Park Grand Prix Track Day ever likely to happen will be held on Friday June 12. As usual all are welcome, especially newbies. Last track day had about 50% of the entrants being newbies. It was great to see. The reason why the newbies feel comfortable coming as well as the experienced folk is how we run it.

The first sessions for the newbs are done with an experienced driver in the passenger seat giving tips. We structure this day, officially, as a driver training day. After this newbs can go out on their own the rest of the day but there will always be plenty of experienced track heads on hand to jump in and give you a few pointers at any time.

The attraction for the experienced track peeps is pure track time. We limit the day to 50 cars which means heaps of track time.

    Now for the great news:

As a special treat for members we are making this a $100 track day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will NOT need a CAMS or AASA licence, and the club is charging you only $100 to participate in the track day.

IMPORTANT - Follow these instructions please. Never in all my years doing this has everyone followed all the instructions so let's see if we can pull it off this time.

    1. Make your deposit to:
    Bank - NAB
    Branch - Marrickville
Account name - Skylines Australia NSW
    BSB - 082 356
    Account number - 546 393 766

Please put your full name in the description.

    2. Email me - bob at estc dot net dot au -
Cut and paste this into your email:

    Full Name:
    Forum Name:
    Car Type:
    Newb or not:
Most recent lap time if not newb (can be another track if necessary but make sure you mention which one):
    Power atw if Newb:
    Mobile no:
    Email Address:

    3. Post up here once you have done this.

    Things to take note of:

    1. You will need a helmet, full length sleeves, full length pants and proper shoes.

    2. You should get an emailed reply confirming your spot in the track day in the following week after you deposit.

    3. This is limited to members only at this stage. If we need more numbers we will open it up but at full price.

    4. Bleed your brakes before you come unless you have done it in the last 6 months. Check for at least 50% meat on your pads while you're at it.

    5. Add an extra 1/2 to full litre of oil before you take it out on the track. Protect those bearings.

    On the day.

Gates open officially at 8am although they usually appear to be open by about 7:30.
    Sign on from 8am.
Scruitineering at the scruitineering shed from 8am until 8:40.
Drivers briefing at 8:40am - ALL DRIVERS MUST ATTEND.
First session which will be noobs 9am.

Remember there are a lot of people to get signed on so can I suggest that noobs get there as early as possible, sign on before doing anything else then get your car ready and scruitineered. Scruitineering will stop at 8:40 for the drivers briefing and start again for the stragglers at 9.

The scruitineering will be done in the garages closest to where you go onto the track at the bottom of the straight. If you camp in that shed to set up your car we will kick you out. Two lines, noobs to the left, the rest to the right. Bring your helmet and what you will be wearing on the track as all this needs to pass scruitineering too.

This is the cheapest Oran Park Grand Prix track day ever. No expensive licence needed, no fuel costs down to Goulburn, no overnight accomodation. Get the day off now and make your payment. You will never see something like this again.

Damn I wanna go to this.
I'm a member of the forum but I assume the special price is for actual club members correct?

So i'd have to pay $200?

    Still very tempting.

Ron do you know if the last day filled up all the spots?
I'd like to know if I need to get cracking with a deposit or have I got a little time up my sleeve that's all.

    Cheers
    Ben

    Hey Ben

At the moment there are 28 entries, closing it off at 50 so that everyone gets plenty of track time.
They open it up for visitors if they don't get enough entries.
Contact "evil weevil" Chris or "Abo bob" Bob on the skyline forum and they should be able to rush membership through for you.
Be good to have another Zed there.:)
Form you need to fill out

Well, sucks to be be in more ways than one right now :(

Just got back from having my car fine tuned and unforunatly it's gone Ka-blammo on the dyno.
Big puff of smoke out the passenger side exhaust and a small puff in front of the pass front wheel for some reason.
Now there's permanant smoke from exhaust and sounds like a bloody WRX when driving.
Dyno operator suspects possible cracked piston.

So obviously i'm out for tomorrow so if anyone wanted to go there's a spot available

    If only!

I've just had a bit of a tinker and there's a few symptoms maybe you can tell me if they are related.

Firstly, got a bit of oil in the pipes going from drivers side turbo through fmic to passenger side TB. To me this dosen't explain smoke from passenger side exhaust.

What might explain it however is a big fat ZERO compression on middle cylinder passenger side. Dumped a little oil down there and still zero.

Not looking good, but looking good for a rebuild hehe.

Using my logic though the two things above don't seem to match up to being related. ie oil in pipes is in wrong side to account for smoke out pass side and vice versa.
Could this mean I also have a failing seal on drivers side turbo? drivers side is also blowing a very small amount of smoke and has done for a little while now. I put it down to bad tune and running rich.

Never ending fun and games :D

remember that the right bank is fed by the left turbo, the crossover happens at the manifold (the lower half). That is why the smoke appears on the other side.

Ahh this would be true if I didn't have a front mount intercooler ;)

    But thanks :)
