Hi just wanting opinions from fellow zedsters about an optimum temperature a z32 should run at? My informeter shows my z running at about 81 degrees on a cool day and recently jumped to about 86 degrees on a stinking hot 38 degree day. I've got a larger koyo radiator and new hoses. Do all these figures sound ok?
75 to 110 is completely normal. Obviously 110 is on the high side, but that's when the fan cuts in. This has been covered a few times. I suggest you do a search before posting.
Thanks for the suggestion but ill make a new thread if I want to. So your saying the fan cuts in at 110? I thought the fan is on constant?
Haha I'm not bragging I'm sure yours is running all good to! Mate I had to spend big bucks rebuilding a motor and bigger radiator, all was worth it I hope!
Oops, I meant 105, not 110. The Aux fan cuts in at 105. Here's a synopsis: The general consensus is: <80 = too low (probably still warming up) 80 - 94 = normal 95 - 105 = hot 106 + = Put heater on, turn A/C off, STOP THE CAR!! http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322061&highlight=temperature&page=3
Stock ecu starts to cut timing at 94 degrees so personally I'd say anything under 94 is fine. Although on a hot day with the aircon on it's easy to see temperatures in the mid to high 90's. Anything under 100 is safe, once you're over that I'd start to be worried, pulling over and switching the heater on.
