Good morning all. I'm just seeking opinions on some 19" Speedy Inferno's My car is yellow which I have found is quite difficult to select wheels for however these are leading the pack atm. They have a machined front with a black background: I know it's difficult with the wheel not actually on the car but you get the idea. Any thoughts? Going for 19x8.5 on front and 19x9.5 on rear with Kumho KU31's I thought the tyre was reasonably priced for the performance, but please comment as it is my first aftermarket wheel purchase! Also I'm guessing I'll have to roll the guards, it this difficult, damaging or majorly cosmetic altering? Thanks for your time guys! Regards Ads Also wanting to go with
Being a bob-jane special, do you know the offset? Probably around +45 to +40 You may need smaller sidewalls with the 19". You can buy my wheels if you want hehe
They don't look too bad with regard to suiting a yellow car, but make sure the wheel/tyre combination is the correct rolling diameter(as near as possible to OEM fittment)otherwise your speedo will be wildly inaccurate. Better be sure you have an updated Tyre/Wheel placard as well, or you will be defected before you can blink your eyes(19"s are maximum for 25th Anniversary models, which came with 17"s).:br:
Tom - Bob Jane special!! You're a clown! Actually the price wasn't that bad! I believe the offset is 35, but I'll check. Do you think anything over that will be a problem? Chili - I'll check to rolling diameter, thx for reminding me!! And I've already order a new Placard courtesy of Benny C!! Ads
Crap just realised my original thread was cut short! I was going to mention I'm going with Kumho Ku31's for rubber. Has anyone had any good or bad stories with this tyre? Cheers Ads
Haha I'm only teasing Mine are 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 so you shouldn't run into any troubles, but you may have to run a thin sidewall as I said. I doubt that the offset would be any more aggressive than +35. Maybe +30 at the most, but my wheels sit relatively flush. An extra 5mm shouldn't be too much to deal with. I haven't rolled my guards at all, and your wheels are the same width and practically the same diameter with the wheel sizes I worked out so you should be sweet. You may want to ask wheel guru BennyC to check my workings though, better to be safe than sorry haha This was just a quick plug into 1010tires.com
I've used them on my 19's also. They're very good bang for buck. While there's better out there, you step up a bit in the cost department. On my 19's i have these sizes: Front: 235/40/R19 Rears: 275/35/R19 They're still legal with my 25th anniversary tyre placards, and those sizes only put the speedo out exactly 3%. (ie: 100kph exactly on my speedo, but i'm actually doing 103kph). No big deal though. Here's a handy tyre calculator to figure out your outside rolling diameters for you, to keep you legal. LINKY-POO Regarding offsets for those wheels your looking at, if they're anywhere between +35 and +42, they'll fit your stock fenders no issues.
Great!! Thanks all! I have been quoted on: Front 245/35/19 Rear 275/30/19 Offset is +38. So hopefully no issues!!! Will order me thinks! Cheers Ads
Hey Adam. The Ku31's are as benny says a good bang for your buck tire. We have them on the zed and the subaru. And were also on my old black zed. We get ours from Option1Garage in QLD. Luckly before all the pricing went up 15% or what ever it was. Talk to Storm. He runs the tires side of the business. As for performance and quality, they're not bad. We're having a good run out of them in respects to abilities and handling. Road noise isnt too bad, not as good as the re001's but thats a huge price difference between them. They seem to wear well too. Overall there are plenty of happy customers out there driving on the Ku31's. Another option is the Ku36's. They're a more aggressive tire with good properties, but will wear quicker as a result. Also many happy customers out there running on them. Anyways, back to the wheels. If you end up going with the speedy rims, have a very detailed look at the craftsmanship quality. Heard a few stories over time regarding small cracks and the like forming in the inner most part of the rim. Closest to the hub. My speedy rims that were originally on my black zed had hair line cracks in the spokes. Needless to say, i soon took them off and in favor of some japanese rims. Just keep an eye on them. My 2 cents regarding the design....yeah they work ok with the yellow. But you can certainly find much nicer rims to suit the zed. But each to there own, and back pocket.
Wheels look like they belong on a holden/ford... if you like em though go for it, thats all that counts
