It appears my passengers side headlight is brighterthen my drivers side light.

It was like this with stock lights and two sets of aftermarket lights. What could be the cause of this? Is it the same with you guys? Has anyone fixed this?

    Cheers,

and here 's a reward because i know you guys will answer my questions :)

Actually brighter or is the beam just higher? The left hand light projects higher, to illuminate more on the left. It is for this exact reason that you cannot use a LHD car's headlights, as the right hand light is aimed as high as our left hand light is, and this would blind other road users.

Definitly should of posted that after i got an answer :p

But back to being on topic. I have now put in HID's but i did have the same problem with the stock lights.

I cant notice it when im driving nor can i notice it at a close distance but when i drive behind any of my friends they say the Passenger side light is a lot brighter then the drivers side. Also when i see the reflection of the light in the back of cars the passenger side appears to be brighter.

Is there a way to fix this so they are both as bright as each other?

It's because it's angled up more to illuminate the gutter/sidewalk where people could be, just s safety thing, it should be like that

Cleaver move. You know we are an easly distracted bunch. :)

Drive up to a wall, approx 10m away. wollies carparks are good for this.
You should see the hotspots on the wall.
Try both high beam, and low beam. Adjust accordingly.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

Try using a multimeter on the car side wiring of the OEM headlight plugs. NOT the HID side. That might light up your eyeballs! Do this WITH the lights running. Dont just unplug the loom as the voltage will most likely read correct when no load is present.
Id be predicting you have high resistance somewhere causing a voltage drop at the headlight connectors.
Trick is to determine if its + or - side.
Try jumping the earth side connection directly to a clean ground point if you think its earth side. You can just jump a wire direct from 12v+ on the battery to the + terminal on the plug if you suspect +ive side drop.

    have fun.

You know hearing the passenger one is SUPPOSED to be angled differently makes me feel a whole load better. This has been bugging me for a while now ever since I noticed it and I was about ready to spend a day adjusting everything to "fix" it.

Now I get to leave it alone and not waste time doing pointless shit :p

    Bzzzzzztttt WRONG!

Both beams are identical in both reflector and projector types.
Headlights are not fucussed differently on each side to light up the side of the road. Thats bollocks. Its actually a defect.

The lights (both of them) are designed to have a slight angle or "kick" of light up on left hand side. This throws some extra light up and to the left. presumably to light up footpaths and make pedestrians easier to spot at night. The opposite will be true of RH drive headlights.

You can clearly see how this is done in ordinary headlights by the addition of angular fucussing prisms cast into the glass and they will be on the lower left hand side of the glass as you face it.

Projector headlights use a different strategy to create this "kick" of extra light and it is done by the shape of the metal shield which covers approximately half of the lens and creates that defined "cutoff" of light projecotrs are noted for.
The metal shield which covers the bottom half of the lens (so no light is projected upwards) has a slight angle cut away on one side which allows the light to be projected up and to the left slightly above the usually straight edge of the beam.

Sorry m8, if you have different shades of light then you either have grossly misaligned headlights, projector lenses and reflectors full of dust which is regularly coverd here, or you have very different voltages present at the globes.

Stick your eye hard up against the lens (Youll look like your pashing the front of the zed... get over it) ) and have a good look in there to check for dirt.
Youll also see how the metal shield is cut with an angle to create the beam shape.

    Have fun
