Oil in turbo intake (accordian) pipe

Maybe I searched for the wrong thing?

I dropped one of the EGR bolts somewhere down the driver's side of the engine last night so I took the accordian pipe off at lunch today to try and find it... I found a nice pool of oil at the front end of the pipe. I had already wiped my thumb in it to check it was oil before I took the photo so there was a fair bit more than you see:

Normal? I figured since it's only filtered air coming in through there it should be clean... the T-piece where the air filter is is spotless!

While I'm here, are there any other bolts that can be used to secure the EGR pipe to the plenum? I still can't find the damn thing!

I think my power steering lines are leaking a wee bit too, it's pretty grotty in that area. Maybe my cam gears as well?:

If your oil seal on the compressor side is leaking then you can have some oil blown back up the pipe when you shut the throttle. That pressure is supposed to go out your blow-off or recirc valves, but if they're stiff then it will blow out the intake.

Don't the PCV's vent into that pipe?

DOH! Yes they do, the pipes from the intake cam covers... that will be why :p

if you've just completed a plenum pull, the bolts that held the deleted water hardpipes are the same thread as your EGR-Plenum bolts. Failing that, they look like a nornal M6 thread

Aaah damn, bypass was done back in February... I shall keep looking. I've tried a few other similar looking bolts from the car but none of them want to turn once the thread bites...

    Incorrect....

The pcv valves vent into the plenum, the front hoses (on the inlet cam covers) are the inlets drawing air into the crankcase when the PCV valves are open.

When the pcv's are shut (when boosting a tt), a small amount of blowby gas can flow in the reverse direction and be drawn into the turbo inlet pipe. To blow that amount of oil into the turbo inlet, the motor would have to be pretty shagged and have blocked PCV valves.

Hmmm :( PCVs were replaced when the bypass was done.
