Hey guys, sry i havnt been on here lately, been very busy with my career and what not. neways...

I want to replace both O2 sensors, as i have been advised. Now is this a process a newb like myself can perform or is this something i should have a pro look at..... a professional not a prostitute.

    Sure they definately need replacing?

Why have they died?, boost leaks causing rich condition? or... ...

    Rich Mix

The fuel mix is very rich, causing a lil bita smoke an an nice fuel smell. But yer i was told after a ConZult test that the right O2 Sensor was screwed.
But if there is something else it could be ide love 2 know

yer my left 02 sensor is screwed too, app thats why im running on safety boost

    red32 You talkin' to me?

The only other thing it could be to cause you to run rich would be the fuel map in the ECU!
AS long as that is OK., then you are looking at an O2 sensor replacement. Not TOO difficult to do... disconnect the electronic lines, belt the sh!t out of the O2 sensors on the manifold, use a 22mm socket to remove the remnants, screw in the new ones, reconnect the electronics, and away you go!

O2 sensors will not be causing safety boost.

Bypass your det sensor according to the tech article here

If that doesn't work, it is probably a break in the wiring from the ecu to the det sensor, so you bypass it close to the ECU. From memory its pin 47 and it is white. However, search to check.

This shouldn't be a permanent fix, so next time a plenum pull is done on your car, get the det sensor replaced.

A heavy soaking of WD-40 and allowing time to penetrate around the thread a couple of times will help with their removal.

EDIT: Ewwwww, that sounds really wrong when reading back over it. Note: do this to O2 sensors, not to yourself!

one of my 02 sensors was showing faulty on conzult

but after fixing some boost leaks and going for a spirited drive, it came right !

what happened to the posts that were here, some error came up and it said tech has been notified and its come back with missing replies, lol just my luck the one i needed

I'm assuming it had to be roll backed to recover from error.

I think Samo18 asked if this would make him only see 5psi of boost.

The answer is no. There are many reasons why you wouldn't be seeing full boost.

Safety boost mixed in with a few boost leaks is probably the most likely. Stock boost solenoids could be disconnected after previous owner had an EBC or similar. I'd be checking for code 34 first.

yer it was that and i think you posted something right before that too that really helped me but i forgot what it said lol. yer and isnt safety boost 7psi cause stock is 9. didnt realise you could get 5

I think I said something about doing the bypass sooner rather than later (I.E now) because it would help with fuel consumption as well as increased performance. Wait until next plenum pull to replace det sensor, or relocate using the article in the tech section.

You will not achieve full boost with boost leaks. You can achieve no boost at all if something like the turbo outlet hose is loose.

i was looking in the tech section and the only bypass was the Plenum water hose bypass . is that what you said i should do

    Tech-> A-Z Tech -> Detonation -> Bypass

lol i was just aboput to get off my ass and do it right now untill i read this

WARNING If Nissan's engineers decided to intall a detonation sensor on the VG30DETT engine, it's because they have a whole bunch of good reasons to do it. If you decide to follow the "bypass the detonation sensor" instructions, your ECU won't be able to "listen" to detonation anymore, and that could cause the destruction of your engine....you've been warned.

are they talking about the procedure they just talked me through????

Stock ECU only checks for detonation up to 3200rpm, after which is ignores the det sensor because vibration not related to detonation could cause the ecu to run safety boost.

Like I said. This is not a long term thing, you should replace the det sensor when you next do a plenum pull or drop the transmission, or relocate it like in this article. However, until then, there are many Z's running with the det sensor bypassed, not to mention the ones with upgraded ECU's and boost controllers that make the Det sensor useless, without issues.
