Hi Everyone. I don't buy them often, but the other day I splashed out and bought a couple of $1 scratchies. Won a whole $2. That started me thinking so I asked the newsagent if she had heard of anyone winning a big prize with them. She said in the 10 years they had been selling them the biggest prize they had sold was $100. Since then I have asked a few people the same question and so far I haven't found anyone who knows someone who has won any sort of large prize.( or at least admits to it) So I'm asking the same question here. Does anyone know of some one who has won a decent prize on the NSW scratchies? Or is it a Gov conspiracy? regards bollie7
Revenue collecting. Pure & simple, just like speed cams>>> >>> Believe it or not, coming to you courtesy of yr local council SOON.
My grandma won $25k a few years back from a batch she recieved as a gift. Other than that..... I've won $6 before :thumbsup::thumbsup:
My Brother won $50,000 He doesnt buy them normally but had no pockets and didnt want change so bought one and won $2. got another 2 and nothing but in those days (20 years ago) you filled in the back of the scratchie and went in for the barrel draw and he won $50K! That was 95% enough to buy him a 4x2 house back then. But i agree its one in a million chance and i never buy them
It's the same with all gambling. The odds are always stacked in the house's favour. The organisations that run gambling have to make money which means that most people who gamble lose money.
I was in a Tatts agency years ago when >> someone bought a scratchie just after me and won $10,000. In my best Maxwell Smart voice "missed by THAT much!" Talk about scream (her, not me) - she really turned the volume knob up loud. Never won more than $5.00 on them myself and I haven't bought any for years.
I don't know the odds on Scratchies, but here are a few> that you might be surprised at: Winning NSW $5 Lottery....140,000 to 1 Winning NSW $2 Lottery....180,000 to 1 Winning Lotto....8 million to 1 Winning Oz Lotto....8 million to 1 Winning Powerball....54 million to 1 Being murdered in NSW....57,000 to 1 Don't you just love those odds?
The odds on spending more money on your zed than you anticipated..... about EVEN money.(that's 1:1 for you non gamblers)
lol true but someone has to win it last week a bunch of the laundry workers from one of our hospitals won lotto. They got $715,000 EACH. As you can imagine there was a lot of trouble getting any clean sheets the next week
