Well I'm not much chop in the suspension world so was hoping peaple could tell me if I'm on the right or wrong track. I have stock springs rear (sagged I'm sure), and kings on the front, also stock shocks all round which are stuffed. It looks like I have extra camber on the rear due to sagged springs? As far as I know the bushes are all good I replaced some not long ago. The ride I'm after is a bearable street ride but better performance than stock and I don't want it lowered. These are the senarios I'm thinking please suggest which you think would be best for the ride I'm after.

Note: Not looking at coilovers, too expencive.

    1. 4 New Standard shocks ($500guess) 2 New progressive rate rear king springs ($180) = $680
    2. 4 New Standard shocks ($500guess) 4 New progressive rate spings (Tein or Eibach $350) = $850
    3. 4 KYB adjustable + Eibach kit with front camber kit ($830+shipping) = $1030

Also can someone tell me are all king springs progressive rate? I couldn't determine from their website?

coilovers are the price you looking at paying anyway, the G4 coilovers on ebay are $999 and height/dampener adjustable, and just choose the spring rates which would suit your driving.

I was under the impression that King springs are NOT progressive. The ones I had were not anyway.

Can you still buy the standard Tokico shocks? I just went the KYB blacks with king springs, was quite good. The KYB AGX's and Eibach's is very good. Hit up Martin, he might let you go for a spin if you ask nice ;)

If you need a hand putting them in I have all the tools and have done it a few times :D

    Edit:

Don't go G4's if you want 'near stock' ride comfort... Tein SS are about the kindest coilover you can get and even those are a bumpy compared to the King/KYB combo.

you can tell if a spring is progressive by looking at it, the spacing of the coils will be different from top to bottom. ie. tightly spaced at the top for say 1/4 the length of the spring then more openly spaced for the rest of it.

If you can afford to then probably go the kyb option but check out what other springs are available, a few people seem to love the tanabe springs that caz sells so have a bit of a search.

Coilovers in this price bracket are the budget variety & generally wont be as reliable or comfy as what you require.

    cheers, Tim

Well so far it's the kyb eibach's in front for choice.:) And thanks Chispy I'll prob take you up on that offer, suspension can be a pain to change on your own. Just have to wait for the Tax return now.

With the King springs I too thought they weren't progressive but this page got me thinking, progressive rate information

If you can afford it get bilstein or koni.

GSL rally sport has good rates for these shocks. You can get kings though him as well.

I got koni rear shocks and kings delivered for about $550

    Egg ....

    Seconded...

....go the AGX and Eibach springs.

Wouldn't recommend Koni's less you like it firm, they are a bit harsh.
I use Koni's and like it firm. :)

Yep, get some justjap coilovers - hopefully when my tax comes through I will be getting a set of G4s, 8kg at the front and 6kg rear.

One more question, the kit with the front camber compensation kit, is it worth paying the extra $75USD, and does it remove the need for adjustable upper control arms? Or should I just get the suspension and put the $75 towards adjustable upper control arms?

    WhiteNight Littering and...

Ive got the KYB AGX combo, with front and rear strut and swar bars, with the camber arms. I think its great. For a road car i dont think it can get much better.

It would be close to about 2k im guessing for that gear... mabey 1.5k. Money well spent imo.

the front camber compensation kits are ok if its only going to be a little lower than stock, once your going over an inch lower than perhaps better to look at the adjustable arms.

Bilsteins are meant to be very good, sydneykid on skylines australia used to sell a kit with king springs that was very well recommended. The set he sold was for an r32 gtr so would be direct bolt on for z32.
Will be a touch more than the kyb's but definatly worth having a look at. Have a look at the gb on sau for feedback & its apparently easy to get them cheaper than his prices at most suspension shops.

I think it's a bit of a rip as it just spaces the front upper arm mount up to correct the camber. However, it uses the factory arms which won't seize up, snap or otherwise, looks stock and is cheaper than adjustable arms. Never have to set it either.

IMO you dont need anything, with a little bit of lowering you get a good amount of negative camber for handling without having excessive tire wear.

Your prob right there. Might just get the shocks and springs then see how it sits.
