Just wondering if its possible to convert the standard aus spec mirrors over to the jap spec mirrors and how I would go about wiring that up?

Any tutorials out there as such?

Also on another note was wondering if it is possible to convert from manual to digital climate controls....

    Thanks in advance

I don't have any tips (but I'm sure its possible) but I will be taking off both my J-spec mirrors soon when my Ganadors arrive. They're yours for the taking dylan :)

    you will need....

A pair of Jspec mirrors, or at least the internals. You can put your Aus-spec casings on/over the J-spec internals. Then you require the J-Spec switch in the cabin. I would get a switch with the connector plug connected to the underside of the switch, and about 10cms of wiring connected to the plug. That way, you can match the colors of the switch wiring to the wiring of the mirror motors (I would think they would be the same colors). You would need to take off the door trims, plus the internal trim to run the new wiring from the switch to the motors. This all sounds very easy, but I'm sure it'll be more tricky when it comes down to it. But in general. thats what you will have to do.

    Yep...

I do. When parked in the garage to allow easier passage between the vehicles and also out on the street,

So the motor is a straight swap into the aus spec casing? no drilling or anything?

    Got the j spec switch....

Do I need to get a matching connector for that switch and for the plug coming off the mirror? or is there a way around it...

Also if I do does anyone have one up for grabs? (Anti maybe?)

And does the existing plug coming off the j spec switch have enough wires to split to both mirrors or do they have to be spliced into the same colours for both mirrors...

When I changed the folding motor out of my passenger mirror, I had to depin the connector to pull the wires through.

I would be hoping that the connectors would be hanging of the loom unused on the aus spec, if so a simple plug in, you can hope I guess. :)

If they are not, your going to run wire/wires from the centre console to the mirrors, having the connectors from a wreck from the mirrors and the switch with a decent tail will make it a easier and neater.

If you manage to do this it would be could to come back and post details.

Yeah I just cut the connector to pull it through (will re solder obviously)....hmmm possibly...lets hope...

Ill check when I can get some wire and report back

I do when I park in the street to lessen the chance of getting the outside one wiped off. Also in drive-throughs it allows you to get closer to the window without risking a scrape. If you flick the switch back to "open" after you turn off the ign then the mirrors open automatically when you start up again.

Anyone know of someone who has modded and fitted anything other than the Z mirrors?

There's a couple of Merc mirrors that I think would go well with the Z but haven't really seen anyone go down that road before.

There are Ganador and Bomex... what more could you want?

Check out these ones... they've been for sale for a while now at a great price

Mirrors that aren't ugly as shit and actually go with the Z lines? :p

Seriously though, looking for something that goes with the Z lines + comes with a side indicator so the normal side indicators can be shaved (legally?).

So a mirror designed for a Mercedes is going to flow with Zed lines better than a popular aftermarket item that was made for the Zed? Ganadors are the go.
