    Woho more problems ;)
Anyway... ive got very little left before the zed is finished and decided to start her up to make sure all is working. its not.
car will not crank, ive done a bit of self diagnosis and found im getting no power to the start signal wire.
    What have i done?
I have brought a new harness (from wiring specialists)
    manual conversion (durr)

Is there any kind of neutral safety switch that has to be bypassed?

    easy

there is a blue solenoid under the guard on the driver side ( remove inner guard plastic and it is bracketed on the inner guard near the front of drivers side door ) you need to bypass, think it's the low to high voltage solenoid or something? just unplug this and make up a short length of cable (quite heavy ) with female spade connectors on each end and bridge between the clips in the plug :)
    Hope this helps

not sure of specifics but pretty sure you will find the inhibtor circuit is looking for N or P on the auto. I believe its a case of earthin the appropriate wire

edit its the relay that Michandy mentioned by the looks, http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=237493

Relay - on the old 280zx you just had to connect 2 wires from the park switch on the auto gearbox

That happened to me when I borrowed my sisters old Volvo some years ago.

Earth wire broke and when I tried to start it I fried the ECU and AFM
Lucky to find a mechanic late Friday afternoon who wanted nothing more than to start his holidays.
